Yam looks like da bomb. I stopped and checked it out and it looks cool. We made the mistake of trying to get info on climbing there from some gym in Canmore. They were no help. They told us to go do all the bolted sport routes. I hear there's a ton of good sport climbing, but Yamnuska is the place to go if you want to be cool. I'm not sure how to get route info on it. I had a really old guide, but we couldn't even figure out the approach hike. (guess we were dumb)

A friend of mine is turning this van he owns into an electric rig. I was checking it out a few weeks ago; it looks pretty cool. He plans on driving it to work when he gets it done. It isn't suppose to have a super long range, so you shouldn't plan on driving it to go cragging. You do have to plug it in every night.

I don't know the skis, but Dynafits do rule.

I've done a ton of stuff that involves hiking through woods at night. While I have done some target practice with guns I have never been a gun owner. I've always figured that the chances of being attacked are very low, but that doesn't mean I want to impose my viewpoint on others. In the story I mentioned above I can see how just having a gun would make you feel safer even if you never actually used it.

If you're out in the woods by yourself and a cougar is obviously stalking you you may want to have the option of defending yourself. That doesn't mean you're hunting the cougar. In Rat's case he was able to scare the cat off with just a rock.

Sorry, that was standard practice back in the old days. Things are better now.

Rat got in a standoff with a cougar a few years back. He made the cat back off by throwing rocks at it. He told me he had a gun in his truck, but he was too far from the truck.

pvc pipes are a little more eco than the classic old poop in a paper bag and fling it that I learned years ago. A climbing partner from way back got splattered by flung poo from on high in Yos.
