Shit Diesel is already $5/ gallon. You gas hogs better wake up. I take the bus every time I can. A little extra time wasted is cheaper than buying fuel.

Trip: Washington Pass Area - Kangaroo Ridge and Black Peak Date: 5/24/2008 Trip Report: [font:Times New Roman] I never made it to Washington Pass when the road opened, so I was excited to go to this years Ski In. On Friday evening tanstaafl and I drove over the pass and David Parker's place. The group wasn't very big that night, but we did have a big keg of beer. On Saturday the 24th we all drove up to the hairpin turn below the pass. After a little debate we picked some obvious slopes on Kangaroo Ridge to ski. The uphill starts in the trees then breaks out into open slopes. Two members of the group were happy in the sun, so they hung out below the upper slopes. Dave and Snoboy pushed ahead fast and reached the ridge crest. I was behind, but I headed up the slope. I got to a high point below a melted out segment Snoboy and I had previously skied. This time I ended up with a nice drop down to the trees. Kangaroo Ridge. The skiing is on the left side of the photo Liberty Bell Group with Mt. Goode Rip it up The whole group then headed back down to Mazama for food, beer, a campfire and fun. Later that evening Fern and J showed up. The next day a group of 5 headed off to ski and Fern and J did some nice sounding climbing down near Mazama. The skiers picked Black Peak as a destination. We left the pass at about 9 and headed up to Lake Ann then Heather Pass. From the pass a downhill traverse take you to Lewis Lake. The weather looked a little funky but not too bad. Dave and Wayne blazed ahead up towards Black Peak. Tanstaafl and Snoboy chose to alter course and pick a new ski route. I've been thinking about skiing around Black Peak for a while, so I took off on my own following Dave and Wayne's tracks. Black Peak. The ski route I took starts from the left side notch I ended up reaching the notch in the east ridge of Black Peak above Wing Lake. From there I had an excellent view of Goode. I saw Dave and Wayne on the summit of Black, but the snow above me looked thick and mushy. I picked my location as my high point. Goode I had a fantastic ski down to Lewis Lake and then a short traverse back to Heather Pass. I waited a bit fro Dave and Wayne then the three of us had a nice ski down to Lake Ann. A short ski down brought us back to the rig. Descent to Lake Ann Everybody ended up at the cabin for more fun. Three new folks showed up at the cabin and we all had a fun evening. The rain did pick up a bit Sunday evening. It stayed with us into Monday. We all had a lazy breakfast then packed up and headed home. A few of us stopped at the pass. The weather wasn't too bad, but we didn't have enough motivation to ski more, so we headed home. All and all I had a great time, and I'm very very happy to be back to skiing after a long time off. I went to last years Ski In, but due to health issues I couldn't ski then. Gear Notes: Skis, Boots, poles, and most importantly pants Approach Notes: If you're going towards Black Peak the hike to Heather Pass and then Descent to Lewis Lake is the way to do it for north side routes

There's good climbing at Goat Wall near the camp or at Washington pass, but skis would be better for the approach at the pass right now. ...you are new to the Cascades

I see you were never good at math. Public schools? I think he forgot to mention the 20% of voters doing meth.

That's what we get for having a little snow early then rain and cold temps for a long time at the beginning of the season. It sure was great when the big dumps started, but the big slide zone at the bottom of the pack never went away. It'll still be good.

Kevbone, you're a fine example of somebody with undiagnosed conditions. You're name comes up where you can read it and out of sight. The general consensus is you're fucked up. Maybe you could be the object of a scientific study if folks didn't have better things to do.

It's all about condos in Ballard today. I'm sure the Sunset Bowl is soon to be gone as are most of the old time Norwegians. Times change. My family lived in Georgetown when that was where all the German immigrants went to. Back before it was even part of Seattle. [font:Arial Black] Free Georgetown and Ballard

Sorry folks of Ballard the Denny's Restaurant at 15th and Market is going down. The Ballard Denny's had a sports bar too. It just ain't good good enough to be historic. They're going to create new history by building more condos.

Lets see. If Mrs Clinton was playing professional baseball and while trying to get on base she was called out by the first base umpire she should launch a national campaign to be declared safe by the MLB umpire association. I like baseball but the games are long enough. Extra innings can be exciting, but everybody does need to go home eventually. Hmmm

A friend played me a video of the show back a few years ago. It's fucking funny.

Lets see the document Fairweather provided us with a link to was written by: The document I posted was a consensus opinion of 40 scientists in a formal agreed statement. An agreed statement means that all these 40 people were not in absolute agreement. I work with documents like this relating to trees. In all those documents they state that different opinions are discussed and the final statement is a lot more than the opinion of 50.5% of participants. While it may not be 100% opinion they take the time do discuss and review different points of view. Fairweather quotes a couple dudes down on Dick George Road. Somehow I think 40 scientists involved with the IPCC might know more than a couple slack jawed motherfuckers from Cave Junction Oregon.

Men in skirts is nothing new. If I could find it there's an old Seattle King 5 morning fashion show where Men wear kirts What is a kirt? well it's a combo kilt and skirt. You've got the kilt part to make men feel macho and the skirt part so they can feel sexy. I am not making this up. This was a real fashion item, and it wasn't gehy like a utilakilt.

Cooking is fun. You get to do chemistry without the lab. Of course you do have to be on the lookout for bad experiments, but that's part of the fun.

I have a question. Is it bad when I'm sitting with a group of guys and women. (none of whom I'm 8D )and I turn to the person nearest to the fridge and say, "Bring me a beer bitch." Should I apologize?

You can damn bet marijuana was put on Schedule 1 in 1970 because it was the DOC of all those damn dirty hippies promoting peace and love. Nixon knew they would be the downfall of America. They were the ones who attacked the Guard at Kent State, they were the ones who protested the war and the illegal secret invasion of Cambodia, they were the ones who wanted free love. Ho Chi Minh was going to take over! All because of the demon weed! I think one could throw in a bit of racism too. I mean pot was brought here by Mexicans and black folks liked it, therefore it must be the devil weed. What's the harm in making something illegal that was brought to us by a bunch of spics and niggers. If only they had passed a law forcing hippies to get a haircut. Now there's a law I could get behind.

Well you suck, so I guess you're on even ground with Hockey.

A really cool final would be a final between the NBA, NFL, ML Baseball, and the NHL. Now there's a competition. The NFL guys are big and have pads, but the NHL guys have Hockey sticks and a puck. The baseball players have bats. The NBA might be at a disadvantage, but they can dunk.

I just heard on the radio that the pass will be open at 3 PM today. PM

I've read a bunch of inspiring writing, but when you get down to it the climber who inspired me the most is my dad. When I was a little kid I'd stare at pictures of climbs he had done in the past. While I was still young he got me out in the mountains scrambling and on AT skis. He encouraged me to start climbing as a teen. He even let me lead the crux pitch on das tooth when I first started climbing.
-
I don't think you reading very well. What I said is if Joe Meth commits a crime then he should pay the price for the crime he committed (jail time). I'm sure in an event like this it would probably come out as an extenuating circumstance that Joe was doing a lot of Meth. If that happened then the court should mandate drug testing and counseling but not more prison time based solely on the drug use. Stuff like this would obviously lead to reevaluation down the road and possibly further action. Jail time costs a lot more than testing and counseling. Of course in the end more jail time might be the thing to do, but starting off by treating the drug use part of the offence as a medical problem is a better approach.
-
I'd say that drug problems are a health issue and not a legal issue unless the wacko actually commits a crime. If you rob, ruin property, or murder then you should go to jail. If drugs are involved then the judge should force you to seek medical help, but you shouldn't go to jail just for being on drugs. If we were to take Fairweathers approach then we should reestablish prohibition. Look at all the alcohol related crime and death. We're spending a huge amount of tax money on imprisoning folks whose only crime was having some pot. Prisons and jails are for people who damage or hurt others or their property not for locking up somebody who might need to attend classes such as AA or see a doctor. This is drug free...ok well I am drinking coffee
