  1. Do the homework. There are insurance companies that do not charge exhorbitant rates for climbers. Kemper is one that I recall off the top of my head. I think Safeco is another. Making a fraudulent representation on an application for insurance makes the contract null and you lose the money you pay. In addition, in some cases if the insurance company has already paid your family benefits and they learn of the misrepresentation they can sue the family for the return of the proceeds. I've seen this in action. Quite frankly, I think my family will be happy enough to see me go without having an insurance company pissing on their parade to get their money back.
  2. "here I sit just passing gas hoping this shit will shoot through at last. When will this sitting, straining stop? And make me poop instead of pop?" "I'm the janitor of this stinking place and I'd like to smash yoru fucking face if you're the queer who pumps his balls and shoots all over these sticky walls" "When I was young I had no sense I stuck my dick in an electric fence it curled my hair and tickled my balls and made me shit in my overalls." At the Fort Hill diner on hwy 18 just before the grande rhonde casino, on the shitter walls: "satin rulz"
  3. If you lie on your insurance application and the insurance company finds out your family will not receive benefits. Period. Trust me on this. I recommend doing a search on rec.climbing for some feedback on various insurance companies. Some charge more, some less, some don't care at all.
  4. Impossible to fool a polygraph? Wrong-o, sport. People do it all the time. One of several reasons why polygraphs are not admissable evidence in court.
  5. I go to the hedgehog for all my mountaineering advice.
  6. Performance-based dismissal does not necessarily preclude your ability to draw unemployment--assuming this is what you mean by severance.
  7. What job pays 4.75/hour AND has a severance package? Do you get a golden parachute too? Just start making stupid mistakes. Continuously. Slow down your performance gradually so that you do less and less actual work (assuming you do any already). Eventually they will get tired of it and lay you off.
  8. Beefchub?
  9. I might be into that depending on when.
  10. Grade school in Portland. I think I still have a "No Parking Ash Removal" sign somewhere.
  11. When I was in the army we always referred to Reservists or National Guardsmen as weekend warrior because they were in fact weekend warriors, in the very literal sense of the terminology. I don't necessarily think its a derogatory term when applied to myself because it relatively accurate--I am only able to climb on weekends and even then not every weekend. But I am fat and lazy too.

Fugitive? They did nothing illegal. A filibuster is a time-honored part of the democratic process (although I don't agree with it) so I see nothing wrong with skipping the state (a de facto filibuster) to prevent passage of legislation you oppose. I would say the same regardless of party affiliation. Again though, I think there should be a better way of building that mousetrap.
  15. Try checking for beta at www.canyoneeringusa.com. If what you are looking is not readily apparent you can email Tom. He's pretty generous with the beta and knows his way around.

You obviously know very little about politics. You should see what the floor of the house looks like at any given time. Rarely does a congressman attend all the committee meetings, hearings etc. And rarely do they all vote on every issue. If they did this, even less would get done than is being done now.
  17. Ouch.

  23. Unemployed and unable to climb due to a combination of bad weather and an unfortunate accident with a baby bottle, cotton balls and a mis-labeled tube of Preparation-H, erik sought comfort and solace in a long-distance internet relationship with Iain. Smelling the putrid air of desperation and angst, Iain rejected erik's advances in spite of the combined lure of a free stay in a squamish cabin and a french-maid outfit. Erik never recovered from the affront to his erstwhile masculinity and lifts his leg on Iain forevermore.
  24. I didn't know Jessica lurked here. Took me a while to recognize her from the front. It is nice to see a balance of women and men. Nice to meet Mrs. Sketchfest. What do you guys think about a BBQ sometime next month?
  25. And there is actually climbing near Tillamook
