  1. amidst other plane crash wreckage - probably from the Marine transport in '46... the fuselage pieces had the same green camo paint
  2. I will actually add a note on approaching the Fan, however - the rangers are diverting people away for sake of the jacked up icy debris pile and cut up chunk of glacier... it's definitely not impassible for determined and sure-footed climbers, but it would easily scare away the less resourceful. We approached the bottom of the ramp from climber's right on the up, and traversed super slippery frozen mud-covered chunks to land on the piece of cleanish glacier directly guarding the Fan.. it worked OK, but was mildly hazardous and messy. For descent, I went skier's right, around the other way, and I'd say it was definitely less hazardous, but dirtier and slightly more laborious. If you chose to go that way (climber's left, on approach), cut straight across the shit pile toward what looks like the left edge of the fan's mouth, then scramble the scree above the crevassy glacier until you get to about the last two cracks... now you can walk straight across to the bottom of the Fan. BUT - stay away from the area directly over the creek, unless you rill thirsty:
  3. Not too much relative to conditions or the tale, but here's some I liked, just to spice up ur TR I hadn't been to altitude in over a year, so the trek up to Hazard on day one was 'nuff for me. I descended whilst the bros ascended.
  4. LB summitted, IK napped at 13k. LB said it was cracks intersecting cracks and totally ridiculous. Definitely isn't going to be climbable much longer... get on it now if you want it, and make sure you have plenty of time for route finding.

Don't confuse socialism with "socialism." There's the ideology, and then there's what the Right, and europe, and Democrats think it is. They are not the same. One is cool... the other is nothing more than a front for oligarchical statism. Centralized, authoritarian control comes in all kinds of packaging.
  8. I dont tolerate any drug use on my jobsite. I know pot smokers are gonna show up baked, toke at lunch, and will be hitting it at some point mid-afternoon if it's not an early day.... there's not a whole lot I can do about that. What a person does on their time off is none of my business, so long as it's not affecting performance on the job (meth, alcoholism, et al)... so if I drug test my guys and they fail for cannabis.... It's not necessarily an instant termination. How the hell do I know if it's from this morning or last night? I just tested a guy a couple weeks ago, 'cause I thought he was tweeking... he wasn't. Totally clean, except for cannabis.. I apologized to him for the accusation and he continued to work for me. No more energy drinks for that guy, though. Stoned is the pothead's "normal," so I have mixed feelings about it. I'm not gonna tolerate use on the jobsite, and if I think someone is "impaired," they're gone.. but if being SOBER is going to "impair" you more than being stoned, and you're squared away stoned... quality talent is more important to me than no-tolerance. Don't ask, don't tell, in that case.
  9. I'm also a businessman, and a tradesman, and have worked for, alongside, and had work for me any number of substance users and/or abusers. Alcoholics show up sluggish and ornery, get better after a snack at 10 or so, then start getting pissy again around 2-3 in the afternoon and fall apart after that. So you can count on maybe 4 solid hours from 'em. Smokers have to stop and smoke every 45 minutes, totally disrupting the rhythm and momentum of the day, stink up the jobsite and make the whole crew look (smell) unprofessional. Tweekers are the first ones on the jobsite in the morning, bust ass all morning long, fade at lunch, are always late back from lunch (usually REALLY late), then bust ass again until quitting time..... except for all their ass-busting, they don't actually ever manage to accomplish anything and when they do, it's usually all fucked up and has to be fixed. And they steal everyone's shit. Potheads, like smokers (and they're usually smokers too), also have to stop to toke throughout the day, are slow and stupid, but generally fairly methodical and don't fuck shit up too much. Then you've got your non-drug-using worker... me. I'm the only one I've ever met.
  10. Lotta action on this route this season Good job! Is that the summit pile before the whitewater pic?
  11. Howdy Need a new work harness, don't want to drop a half a G on a new Yates... Chest would be cool, but isn't actually necessary- just needs to be comfortable as can be, In GOOD shape, and have positioning rings. Do any big wall harnesses have positioning rings? I don't want to jury-rig some shit, though... That always results in pain. Thanks! -Ben Benjaminbeckerich over at gmail.com 5 oh tree - tree two seven 4 two 44
  12. Spray... you can kill it, but you can't control it.

Except that running mates aren't selected until after the party nomination. Nice try though. You don't think these guys ever make phone calls before game day?
  15. Aint been up for a long time, but I'm betting the crater rim is melted down at least halfway from the knife-edge, and booming sounds can be heard continually
  16. No protection for employees = still banned for many But a step toward liberty, it still is.

I'd never even heard of the guy till some Facebook "whose your candidate" quiz said my socio-economic-political views lined up best with his. As a liberal who appreciates ALL of the Constitution (even that pesky 2nd Amendment), his record looks spotty, but not horrible... you know shit is bad when "not horrible" is actually a compliment. But I don't vote, so it's irrelevant. You guys can do whatever you want with the place... it's cool with me.
  20. I've done it in totally snow-free conditions from the saddle above the glacier... the whole ridge is cruiser when it's bare, but the rock is SHIT. I can't believe you found any cracks stable enough to stick pro. I'm a little confused on your descent, though - you said you got beta to not rap off the west side, but saw debris on the east side and were glad you didn't go that way - which way did you go? If that snow on the west face of the pinnacle isn't soup by descent time, that should offer a good downclimb option, no?
  21. Which reminds me of Captain Willard's rule for boating: "Never get out of the boat, unless you're going all the way."
  22. I'd just be all about that munny, ya fill me? Hoes and cash flows, steady pimpin six foes. Not causes.
