  1. There is really no excuse for that type of behavior. As a civil servant your held to a higher standard of professionalism. These mistakes and errors in judgement by these police officer can lead to worse problems down the road. Hopefully SPD nips this type of behavior in the bud and takes corrective steps to better train their officers.
  2. thanks everyone for their input, looking forward to testing it out soon. The silent partner looks sweet. Wish it wasn't so expensive.
  3. http://climbinglife.com/rock-leading-and-rappelling-systems-advanced/how-to-solo-aid-climb-13-34.html Anyone use this system? Anyone have any advice to make this system more efficient?

  15. IMO I usually rock just a base layer and softshell for that temperature range. I try to avoid climbing or doing anything in my hardshell if at all possible.

    Dane!

thank you for sharing your experiences! Good luck and best wishes!!!!
  19. I bought La Sportiva Spantiks last year and they have been great for cold weather. I have used them all over the cascades during the winter. Plenty warm and they climb well for me. There have been reported issues with the lacing system, however I haven't had any issues. The bigger downer is the price point. Hopefully some sales may pop up soon? I got a good deal on brand new ones last holiday season (about 40%). IMO these boots are awesome for cold weather climbing. I think Dane Burns blog has an in depth review on them.
  20. IMHO spending money on a guide is probably the best thing you can do. I have been climbing for about two years, soaking up what I can from books and climbing. Every time I have done some guided trips or clinics, my base of knowledge have increased exponentially. The NW has plenty of great guides to learn from. just my 2 cents.

    Alpinism 101

Great article...thanks for the links to other resources too, i found them very useful as an aspiring alpinist myself.
  22. the best part of the item are the reviews. "Perfect for that moment when a touch turns into something romantic at 10,000 feet. With this kit you'll always be ready. Great for day use, but not that great for night time use. Couldn't figure out what tube the lube was in and a slight leaf burn resulted, which wasn't pleasant when using the alcohol infused wet wipes. My friend was not amused." He apparently forgot his headlamp.

    Dane!

Best of luck to you Dane! And thanks for raising awareness for this form of cancer. A family friend of mine has battled throat cancer for several years and i am proud to say he battled hard and beat it.
