  1. Trigger, you interested in Smith? The weekend here in P-Town calls for PNW liquid sunshine.
  2. Nice work duuuuude! Cleaning out an old aid line, Matt Spohn gets a 13a/7c+/28 tick, opening up another harder Washington line just outside the Vancouver area and showing us once again that the best climbing in Portland isn't there. Wild Turkeys
  3. I want to head out to Wolf Rock for the day this Saturday. Leave Portland early and take on some of the fine multi-pitch routes over past the arch. If you are leading strong and want to hit a 5.11- 8 pitch route let's talk otherwise its 5.9-10 range for the grades. Topher
  4. Kirk would that be a paid tour or are you offering out of sheer generosity?
  5. No doubt it is, who has the goods on this area to share? Has the drilling started or is this a trad only zone?
  6. Tooling around central Oregon for the weekend and checked out Moolack as well as a few other places. Stumbled upon some sweet looking cliffs over near Tumalo Creek and wonder if anyone knows anything about these?
  7. I love when the 'school groups' come out to Ozone and leave their shit all over the place. Empty boxes, food wrappers and empty drink containers. I picked up a bunch of their shit after they left on the weekend. Too bad the course didn't include a lesson on crag etiquette and pitching in. Next time I'll make sure to ask where they are from so I can inform the institute what a fine outdoor program they are running.
  8. From 5.8 to 11a, glad to see a consensus! Anyhow, it is a good route to prep for Tuolumne's OWs and awkward flares.
  9. BD 0.75 Cam welded behind the flake on Standing Ovation, not sure who got it in there but it is stuck good. Anyone lead Big Dipper? Not much gear until midway, anyone tried a Big Bro?
  10. Anyone interested in hitting up Ozone tomorrow?
  11. I'm fairly new to the Portland area and am looking to expand my climbing community. I have been climbing of many years, am geared adequately, lead, follow, trad, sport, ice, snow...unfortunately work and limited partners has limited my exposure. The evenings have been nice here in the past month and I was getting to Ozone fairly consistently for a few weeks and want to do more. Also looking for someone who might be interested in Cooper Spur on Hood or hitting Smith this weekend June 21/22/23. T2@miraiusa.com
  12. ACJ - you interested in getting out this week here in Portland? I was thinking of hitting the local Ozone crag in the evening on Thursday
  13. Climbed the first three pitches today. Pitch one is scuzzy to start but if it were cleaned and brushed would be a really nice pitch. I used micro cams and a 0.4 Camalot. Pitch two is easier and one can also find microcam and larger placements so the runout is not an issue. At the top of pitch two we got pulled into a newer bolt line that follows a slabby buttress to an upper belay anchor on the left of the buttress and just below the line of iron spikes. Looks like a new route is going in as there are fixed lines up the face to the Rancho ledge. Likely JO's gear? A fun line which would be more fun with a bunch of moss scrubbing. Enjoy!
  14. Anyone know the story as to why the Montanan Ice Forum seems to be defunct? New site address?
  15. Effing Eh! Passion and dedication to the max, what a journey and phenomenal mental fortitude

  18. Oregons longest trad route, 5.11a 8 pitches Any takers? Im open 7 days a week. Toph@miraiusa.com
  19. John, Have you climbed at Wolf Rock? Looking for a partner this week or week we'd.
  20. Climbed it on Sunday the 22nd in good conditions. We were high camped at 9000' over near Middle Sister in the saddle. Took the S Ridge up to almost the intersection with the SE Ridge, traversed across to the Camel's Hump and up to the ridge proper on the north west side of the Hump. Then along the ridge for 40' or so and back down to the traverse (some call it the Terrible Traverse). The snow was firm and we had a short steeper ascent up a snow slope to the moat which was protected with rock gear as we traversed below the head wall. Once across there was a short down climb to the stance at the bottom of the Bowling Alley. Gingerly ascend the 4th class alley to the summit. Below is a shot showing the approach to the traverse and the snow section that we climbed to get up to where we traversed below the head wall.
  21. Anyone know what this route is up the valley from Alpental on the way to Source Lake?
  22. Source Lake Ice from today - dec 17th Also saw a long ice flow off some tallish face up the Middle Fork Rd out of North Bend yesterday. It was about 1-2 miles before the turn-off for the Middle Fork trail head, across the other side of the river and clearly visible from the road. Never heard of it before, anyone?
  23. Anyone?
  24. Not going to the ice festival but would like to find some info regarding getting to Ourey and staying there. Anyone have any recommendations how to get from Montrose to Ourey? Looking at options besides renting a car. Where did you stay when there and how reasonable were the rates? Any recommendations would surely be appreciated. Thx
