  4. this time of year is great for mt hood. but you need to make sure conditions are really good. i wouldnt go up there for the next 10 days or so, the forecast and avi dangers looks pretty bad.
  5. I don't think your pictures are big enough, maybe if you made them bigger i could see them? This might help: http://download.cnet.com/Free-Picture-Resize-Starter/3000-12511_4-10297789.html
  6. Plastic Boots rock - i think your feet can get used to them, so i guess you can "break them in" - it just depends on what you mean by break them in. Yes, they take time to get used to. But they're much warmer and the liners are nice to have when waking up in the middle of the night at camp to take a dump.
  7. I clicked on this trip report and didnt realize that this was our trip report. I saw that picture and i was like... hmmm Major Major sounds reallllllly familiar, and hey - thats the same rope as mine... then it clicked. LOL But cool you wrote up the trip report. Thanks! - I'm not home right now but when i am in a few days i'll send you over the pictures i got of you. I forgot to do that earlier haha. Hope your ankle is getting better and that you're having a good holiday. -Ryan

  10. wow you got some incredible photos
  11. i have one, my buddy has one - but there shouldn't be any law that tells you that you need one. i do think they're a good thing to have though.
  12. its so unfortunate that things like this happen. hes going to be missed
  13. i had to use the spot unit back in May on Mt. Shuksan. It sent the rescuers off course to a point where we were about a half mile away from. They found us but it wasn't as precise as we hoped. I'd recommend the ACR units as they seem more reliable and heavy duty. Plus they don't have an annual fee, however they are more expensive...
  14. oh, and any need for snowshoes?
  15. cool. what'd you say the angle in degrees was the reid headwall?

  20. How is the south route on mt hood in early december? I'm wanting to do it but i'm not a fan of scree shit so i figured that with the snowfall in november and the clear weather for the next week, it may turn into a decent route, pending a good avalanche forecast... What do you think?
