Mark, I am happy to help out in the road work. Let me know when you plan on going out there again. Big love to those two valleys. Gotta take care of the access to my Mecca.

[TR] Snow Creek Wall - Hyperspace 9/24/2015
mountainsloth replied to telemarker's topic in Alpine Lakes
Nice climb. Too bad bout the goat, but let's face it, there are WAY too many goats out there. And with the number of humans regularly in the enchantments, their natural predator, the cougar are practically non-existent. Something has to weed out the population. -
first ascent [TR] Mile High Club - new route near Vesper
mountainsloth replied to Rad's topic in North Cascades
Cool! I have spent a lot of time in that area and always admired that line! Nice work Rad and Darin! -
Hey Mark, sorry to have missed the work party. How did it go? Is the road repaired? Keep me in the loop the next time something like this goes down.

On the north side of Jumbo mountain across the valley from squire creek. Ranger station knows about it and is regularly monitoring it. When I hiked out on Tuesday a ranger had put up a sign that mentioned they might close the trail for safety. Lets hope this upcoming rainy week puts it out. It would be a shame to loose the great old growth that still grows high in that valley.

[TR] Mount Adams - South Ridges South Chutes 5/9/2015
mountainsloth replied to Schaef's topic in Southern WA Cascades
FYI the south route is in total shit shape for skiing. Giant sun cups and foot deep sastrugi up above pikers. SW chutes looked ok though but prob only 3-4k before dirt. -
[TR] Paisano Pinnacle - Mosquito Apocalypse 6/28
mountainsloth replied to ilias's topic in North Cascades
I too suffered the wrath of mosquitoes in the alpine this week. They were super bad between 4k-6k in the alpine lakes wilderness. -
[TR] Mount Adams - Adams Glacier 6/15/2015
mountainsloth replied to bellows's topic in Southern WA Cascades
What is the snow level round the south side? Wanting to know if it is worth a ski trip. -
That's a fun day!
-
Has anyone been out there lately? I want to do a trip at the end of August and trying to gauge snow and bug potential.

Never been to Mecca. Thoughts on quality of climbing weather 2nd week of April? I am thinking this is the year to visit this early.

Wow. Crazy. A buddy of mine attempted that route in November/December and there was 3x as much snow as now. Nice day out. -

2014/2015 Washington State Ice Conditions
mountainsloth replied to Alex's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
Fat (for WA standards) water ice up the Rachel Lake trail off the climbers trail to Hi-box peak. Its about half way up the canyon on the south side. It looked to be about 100 ft tall with an extra half pitch above. The lower portion looks pretty vertical and featureless. Not sure if it has ever been climbed, but someone go and climb it before we lose the cold! -

[TR] Star, Courtney, Oval - The easiest way possible 10/6/2014
mountainsloth replied to JasonG's topic in North Cascades
Jason, your TRa always impress and inspire. I seem to step away from every one of your reports and think "I need to go there." Way to keep ticking off those summits and. Enjoying every step of the way. -
Great TR. I was wondering if you and your lady were standing on your heads again in the summit pics? This summer a couple friends and I did the north peak, south peak, and kept traversing the entire ridge south until we reached the pass back to the ingles lake trail. Nothing too hard but a great way to stay in the gorgeous 360 views you get up there and highly recommended.
