If you haven't spent much time in the Cascades and you want a really scenic experience, I'd second the Sahale (glacier), Stuart (longish 5.4 rock + glacier), Forbidden (4th/low 5th rock, glacier) and Shuksan (glacier) suggestions. You also might consider Eldorado (shorter approach and near to Sahale) and Snowking (ditto). These are both done as two day trips, usually, and, like Sahale and Forbidden, are approached from Hwy 20 and the Cascade River Road. Check out road conditions: the road washed out last year. Adams is a long drive and stands alone. Beautiful mountain, but you won't get the feel of being in the middle of it all.

Sitting on a balcony in Grindelwald or Gimmelwald or whatever that little Swiss toy town is at the base of the Nordwand. A pure white jet comes screaming across the valley, a few hundred feet off the deck, headed right for the Eiger. At the very last second he tips the nose up and goes ballistic, straight up the face, overshoots the mountain, slows to a stop, hammerheads, and reverses the entire maneuver. Skiing up the final few hundred feet of Glacier Peak from our camp on the Whitechuck. We hear a rumble, look down slope, and a lone Intruder is rocketing up the slope about 200 feet off the deck. We wave, he inverts, and does a ballistic, inverted dive right between the summits. Summited the lava dome in the crater of St. Helens with my buddy Rob in '97, before it got a bit more feisty. The tourist chopper enters the crater and circles the summit of the lava dome and the two naked humans perched on top.

Try the 'Another Bush Thread'. It's about Ulimate Dreams, too.

Weapons into plowshares. Even better. Keep trying, tool. The harder you try, the worse your aim gets.

Yet another 'hipster' trait: they just KNOW things about people. That is so fucking cool. And no, you WERE denigrating the achievement. And this from an armchair genius who's contributed virtually nothing to the world so far. You're just too much of a fucking pissant to admit it.

We found a partner for you and it seems he already lives in your area:

He inspired an entire generation by starting our first and only human journey to another planet. As for the secret service comment, congratulations: you've won the Drama Queen of the Week award. Yes, it was all about the wonder of discovery and rainbows and bunnies. Nothing to do with the Cold War. The hipster cynicism of a 21st century nobody does little to denigrate the monumental achievements of Kennedy's space program. To you, one who did not live through it, it may seem like just another Cold War publicity stunt. To me, and to the rest of the world (including the Russians), who actually witnessed that first step onto an alien world in 1969, it was a life changing event.

Sorry, Cheamclimber. I posted before actually watching your video and made the wrong assumption. My bad. My faith in Canadian humor is restored.

The Gore/Kerry/Edwards/you fill in the blanks "would have/would be a disaster" comments are the mental midget equivalent of a "Hey, look over there!" distraction. They have the intellectual depth of a parking lot puddle. They are the moron's answer to the Bush legacy, usually followed up with a "Yeah, but Bush wasn't true to the conservative movement." Um, with the exception of fiscal responsibility, Bush was completely true to conservative ideals: A bloated military, a foreign policy completely reliant on military power, the infusion of Christianity into politics (sorry conservatives, you've been pandering to those folks for 30 years now, so it's become part of your 'movement'), a blind trust of private corporations, and the lowest priority given to the environment. It is the conservative movement and it's failed ideas that has brought this country down to its present level, not the Bush administration. McCain will simply bring more of the same; his ideas are nearly identical to Bush's in substance, and the downward slide will continue should he be elected.

You'll have to wrest the Drama Queen trophy from KKK's deathgrip, however, after his moving aria concerning stalking pregnant Issaquah housewives.

Someone apparently hasn't gotten the memo that, under our current system, they've already given up their private information to insurance companies, HMOs, credit card companies, mortgage lenders....

yeah this one has really surprised me. the guy is an intolerant good ol' boy, and some "progressives" sing his virtues. amazing. It's also a completely unsupported statement. McCain is an engaging character with a good sense of humor, but his proposed policies are text book Cut Taxes - Cut Government - Bloat the Military conservative. The man has zero new ideas, and liberals are certainly not OK with him.

THAT was really funny, in an eternally damning sort of way. -

Obama verses McCain: if it happens, we'll finally have ourselves a prize fight election.
