Every time I climb near someone who has their jambox playing music is ruins my experience. Better not climb with/near Ivan then. Course, if'n his boom box don't kill ya, his singing will!

I'd vote for two days, camp at the lunch counter. Head for the summit at first light. Makes for a nice enjoyable climb and likely to soften up by mid morning.

Better check with the Dawg on this one...

I'm headed to California tomorrow and want to get about as far as Grants Pass, OR (ish) Thursday night - 7/14. Any recommendations for a free camp site not to far off the main roads. I just need a place to park the truck and catch some z's but don't really want to pay for a site. Would pay up to $10 if I really had to though. Thanks in advance. Any other recommendations about 8 hours south off of I-5 for the next night would be nice to know as well. Dave

Just be careful in bear country. A cold beer in the alpine is about as good as it gets for psychological calories. Especially if you are smart and devious enough to smuggle it in your partner(s) pack(s). Pemican Bars pack a lot of calories and taste good too. Pemican Bars Good cheeses, cured meats and small packages of sliced deli meats also always go down well with me.

So, I'm considering various Wind Tech programs and hoping there are a few techs lurking here... I'm seeking advice on entry level wind tech jobs and the various schools that offer certificates. I am leaning toward a 6 month program at Northwest Renewable Energy Institute in Vancouver, WA. However, I'm willing to travel to get the best education for landing a job. Any advice would be appreciated. THANKS!

3rd the above advice... Take it EASY! I had a double hernia replaced shortly after having our first kid and ended up lifting the baby often. I still have issues now and it has been almost 8 years since I had the procedure done. My surgery was two large incisions and not scoped so your results may be better. I'm 95% recovered but doubt I will ever feel 100% since it has been so long.
