  1. Every time I climb near someone who has their jambox playing music is ruins my experience. Better not climb with/near Ivan then. Course, if'n his boom box don't kill ya, his singing will!
  2. I'd vote for two days, camp at the lunch counter. Head for the summit at first light. Makes for a nice enjoyable climb and likely to soften up by mid morning.
  3. Better check with the Dawg on this one...
  4. See you at the end of August, hopefully. Meantime, I'll be climbing wind turbine towers.
  5. Looks like I missed all the fun. Carry on.
  6. Hi Mark: sent via PM (Private Message), there will be a clinking thing up on the header bar, just click it and it's a "PM" with the info. Good to see you on site. ..any climbing pics? _____________________________________________________ Have a good trip Denali Dave! Thanks Bill! I also sent LCK's info over to Mark. Hope he don't mind...
  7. Thanks for all the beta and props to ClimberJed who hooked me up with Mt Ashland free site. Sweet spot!
  8. Woot! See all ya Beatards in a month or so... Save some tat to cut and bolts to chop fer me.
  9. Get some! Shouldn't it be El Presedente then?
  10. I'm headed to California tomorrow and want to get about as far as Grants Pass, OR (ish) Thursday night - 7/14. Any recommendations for a free camp site not to far off the main roads. I just need a place to park the truck and catch some z's but don't really want to pay for a site. Would pay up to $10 if I really had to though. Thanks in advance. Any other recommendations about 8 hours south off of I-5 for the next night would be nice to know as well. Dave
  11. Wow, they just keep coming. Great shots! Probably not a grand prize winner but a good shot none the less...Scenic - Alaska Range
  12. Missed this one first time through (yes, it was that entertaining). Dudes! One word: Walmart - $28 - Micro Tek Ultra-Compact Mummy 30-Degree Sleeping Bag Werner says they are a stickler on this one if they have to come after you... John David Jr would be proud!
  13. I can smell the patchouli oil from here.
  14. Or as I like to call em "poor man's power bars". Plus, Snickers Really Satisfies!
  15. Sweet! I remember when you posted about having a baby and I CANNOT BELIEVE that was two years ago... They sure do grow up FAST. Climb on!
  16. Where can I buy the latest album from that awesome "band" in the video boner posted?
  17. When my folks heard they were coming to Skamania County they informed me "the doors would now always be locked because those weirdos will just walk right in your house"...
  18. A buddy just sent me this article and I thought I'd share. ADN Denali Article - Old School Epic
  19. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups! I like to stop at a good pizza place before hitting the trail head and save half of the large sausage, mushroom & onion pizza for the trail. Just be careful in bear country. A cold beer in the alpine is about as good as it gets for psychological calories. Especially if you are smart and devious enough to smuggle it in your partner(s) pack(s). Pemican Bars pack a lot of calories and taste good too. Pemican Bars Good cheeses, cured meats and small packages of sliced deli meats also always go down well with me.
  20. So, I'm considering various Wind Tech programs and hoping there are a few techs lurking here... I'm seeking advice on entry level wind tech jobs and the various schools that offer certificates. I am leaning toward a 6 month program at Northwest Renewable Energy Institute in Vancouver, WA. However, I'm willing to travel to get the best education for landing a job. Any advice would be appreciated. THANKS!
  21. "honey badger type ornery" For the uninitiated of exactly what that means... [video:youtube] This should be retro winner for best TR ever!!!
  22. 3rd the above advice... Take it EASY! I had a double hernia replaced shortly after having our first kid and ended up lifting the baby often. I still have issues now and it has been almost 8 years since I had the procedure done. My surgery was two large incisions and not scoped so your results may be better. I'm 95% recovered but doubt I will ever feel 100% since it has been so long.
  23. Blue light special on pup tents at MalWart... Paging JohnDavidJr
  24. I've been hiding w my head buried in the sand but looking forward to getting my fat ass out when it opens. I have not been climbing at all since it closed. Maybe you can rope gun me up Das Corner?
