He paid his share, as do ALL OF US when we pay our property, sales, and income taxes, which is where the vast majority of road infrastructure funding really comes from. Gas taxes and auto tabs don't even raise enough revenue to pay maintenance of the wear and tear that automobiles cause to transportation infrastructure. Don't bother trying to use logic on FW. Considering that I pay for taxes on a car I don't actually drive, I figure I'm paying for a larger percentage of the road infrastructure than cagers like FW who drive across the street to buy more lubriderm. It's a road. The state (DOT risk management) knew about the dangers of the gap in the bridge as early as 1999 when it was purposely put in, and decided to leave it because they assumed "not many cyclists" would use the bridge. But using the road is legal, and there were no signs saying not to cross the bridge with traffic. Cyclists complained, and cyclists kept crashing. And then after this poor fucker crashed, the state tried to seal all accident reports involving that spot on the bridge, since that data would undoubtedly be used against them in lawsuits. A judge finally ruled that data had to be public. Another fucking example of the state ignoring cycling advocate's recommendations and going ahead and doing retarded shit anyway that ultimately endangers the cycling public. Novelty hill road. Westlake. Montlake Bridge. The list goes on and on. And it always takes something like this before they finally listen. They should have to change his catheter for him personally.
