Have you shot it? It's quite reasonable, even for my girlfriend. In fact, I specifically recommended it BECAUSE of his small hands.

All poor choices, Rob. But I'm impressed nonetheless. Everybody has their favorites, but I'm not sure how anybody could call a gun like the G29 in 10mm a "poor choice" for self-defense. The 10 is an excellent cartridge (just ask Ted Nugent!) and the G29 offers an accurate, concealable, controllable and powerful package.

I'm not worried about defending myself from crazies, although I guess that's a benefit. Shooting guns is just fun.

Well, if you ever DO find yourself in this situation wherein you're about to lay the smackdown upon some guy, I would recommend that you DON'T videotape it. Just sayin.

.380 is fairly underpowered, although the Walther PPK is a very nice weapon. Personally, I'd reconsider the .380 in favor of: * 40 SW (if you like beretta, the 96 is a nice handgun) * 10 mm (Glock 29 is a good "subcompact" in this caliber) * 357 SIG (the Glock 33 is a great concealed carry weapon, smallish, fun to shoot, and can go 9+1, or 10+1 (or more?) if you get a magazine extension.) That said, a good shot with a .380 is better than a miss with a .45. I think most people agree that you should get the most powerful cartridge that you can shoot well. Go to Wade's and shoot a lot of guns.

Maybe. I do have a mortgage and two kids, plus a head-of-household deduction, so my taxes are lowish (relatively). But somehow, I never seem to have any money, anyway It's probably my heroin addiction. But, I *am* a pretty good landlord. My tennants are elderly, and on a fixed income, and I let them slide on quite a few months rent, fairly often. Probably because I'm not a republican.

well, my mortgage is paid off in another 20 years. If i only have to pay $300 a month for 20 years to get a rent-free retirement property when i'm 50, that sounds like a good deal to me. shrug

You seem to think that I hace the luxury of naming my price. My rents are driven by supply and demand WAY more than they are by property taxes. If the market allows absurdly high rents, you bet that's what I charge, regardless of how low the republicans keep my property tax.

I'll keep my rent as high as I can. It's not like I'm gonna raise it even HIGHER now cause my taxes are doubled or whatever. Contrariwise, it's not like I'd keep my rent lower, just because property tax is low. No, I'll raise my rents as high as I can, regardless of how much profit or loss I'm recording. One day, when the market lets me raise my rents, I will. It really has nothing to do with my costs. My costs could be zero, and I'd still keep my rent as high as I possibly can.

Landlords don't pay property taxes, tenants do. Exactly - double the landlord's property tax, and guess what happens to the rent for the tenants? In this economy -- nothing. Many landlords (most I know) can't even keep rent high enough to cover their costs, and are taking a loss. I take a $300 loss every month (and that's when they pay.) You don't know what you're talking about.
