Heh, Thats why I bring the split board. No post holing down below, and it only takes me less that 25min to get from Crater rock back to the parking lot... With no effort I might add, and usually is a screaming good time as well!!

Was this on Saturday? I skinned up to illumination saddle on saturday, and around 4 ish the clouds begain rolling in, so I put the split board back together, and jammed back to timberline... The wind was getting bad too, but I cought the lenticular cloud on adams as I drove toward Hood River from Hood.... It was pretty neat seeing the cloud roll in on you while riding away from it!! Haha..

Thank god, I don't worry about this kind of nonsense.... I am at my perfect weight of 175 and I have been there for the last ten years... Thats right! I don't NEED to do anything about my weight, and yeah, thats right, I can eat anything I want, drink anything I want, and it does not matter what quantity either... I always stay at 175... Heh... (well except for that time I had a lung abcess, and I lost like 40 pounds... I looked like a skeleton...)

Hey, guy!! I have a shitty tele set up too... I just suck so bad at it, I stuck with something that I know.... The board... I tried, and tried... Tele just did not give me a woody.... That was kind of the point I was trying to make... Whats 2000' more feet of gain, when the resource is available to you? (But then again I have never ridden a 'cat up, so whadda I know... Well, except for the "ski cat backcountry experience on the Palmer glacier" rides they give at the ski area for skiing purposes only....)

Whats the difference of riding a snow cat or a ski lift for 2000ft, when you DRIVE YOUR CAR up to 6000' to a parking lot? How many of you have done the climb from lolo pass road at 1500'? When you look at it like that, what 2000' more feet in a ride?

Make sure that the crampons you get WILL fit on you snowboarding boots, if that is what you intend to climb in. Most strap ons do not fit very well on snowboarding boots because they are so wide. A good reason why I have a split board... No need to pack it. Split it, skin it... No need for snowshoes either... as far as me...i am in good shape and consider myself capable of the climb. i just haven't done any snow climbing or hiking before so i'm not really sure what to expect. and my friends haven't climbed this particular mountain prior. That is all I really have to add to what Ryland said...

This is sound advise!! One time I brought an out-of-state aquaintance for a backpacking trip through eagle creek to ttanner butte, and when we arrived at the parking lot at 7am on a weekday, there where four cars with broken windows. As we traveled along the trail, we asked at each camp if they drove X-type of car to let them know that they would find a small suprise. I found the kids that owned one of the cars. He asked me if they got into his trunk, and I said yes (because the theifs pulled the seats apart and made access to the trunk area) and the kid said that they most likely stole his laptop. A LAPTOP? WTF did you bring along a laptop computer to a hiking trip? The kids where from Portland to boot. Leave that crap at home!!! As long as there people that store valuable in their cars parked at a TH for several days, the theives will be there.
