  1. Well, that one boarder gave you the impression that all of us suck? Split boarding is just as effecient as your AT set up when it's in tour mode. As a matter of fact, I can float better in tour mode because of the fatness of my "skis"... But I am not going to try and prove you wrong, since I have never used an AT set up. mainly because I can't ski as well as I can board... Kind of like, I play the Bass because my Guitar skills suck theory... But damn, I rock at Bass.... Maybe one day, if I hit the lottery, I will give AT a try... Until then, it's splitsville for me.
  2. I have a Gergory Shasta that I am looking to unload. It's a huge pack, and sized Large (which does not fit me) and it's only been used a couple of times. I would like to see $150 for it, if you want pics, let me know.
  3. Nah, I climbed Hood a few years ago with the guy and his GF.... He is most likely just looking for some feedback.
  4. Only idiots in and from Washington do that crap.
  5. Whats with all this mad hate for snowboarders? I know, I know, the resort douche bag boarder is probably what comes to mind... Not all of us are like that. Some of us enjoy the turns more than the steez, especially splitters...
  6. Wow! Thats gotta be fun waking up to drunks with guns.. http://www.smithrock.com/localguide/campgrounds/sh_campground.html
  7. Keep driving, go to Baker. It's in great shape still. I skied the Coleman-Deming on Saturday (9/15). 4700' vertical of decent corn, ~2.5 miles of hiking in on good trail. Waaay better environs than da Hood this time of year. It's always ski season in WA bishes! Yeah, I could do that too... But that is a WAAAY longer drive... Hood, while sucky, is only 45 min. away.
  8. Damn!! This thread got me so excited, I tuned and waxed up the Splitboard in anticipation!!! Shit, I might have to go up to Timberline next weekend and ride some slush!
  9. What kind of ERP exposure does this job entail? I assume that the radio tower is going to be active during the job?
  10. Jeez, how old is that picture on the Mazama web site? Half of the people in the picture are wearing shorts over polypro....
  11. I am a use a TNF Spire 38 for single day climbing or multiday non climbing trips and seems to work fine for me. I also use a Dakine Heli pro pack for summer and times when I carry my splitboard when you just can't skin anymore...
  12. So far they have been fine in the summer snow conditions, but I agree, In hard ice and styrofoam snow, they might not be the best, but then again, in those conditions, I would not wear these boots anyhow...
  13. I picked up a pair of boots off e-bay a few months ago, and I am really digging them. They are flexible enough for comfortable hiking, yet accept a full step in crampon! It sure was a much lower cost IMO for a basically brand new summer mountaineering boot. Now, I am curious to what model they are, obviously they are Garmont, but they don't make these anymore, so there is no info on the Garmont web site. Maybe some of you gear minded folks around here know what these boots are.
  14. I always thought that the MSR white gas was just a more expensive and rebranded version of the Coleman white gas anyways...
  15. Thats what south side of Hood is all about!!! At the right time that is...
  16. Nice. Wishfull thinking, but your full of it!! Of courrse he is, but I for one, think it's a good idea!! (Note this is fucking SARCASM, If I see the this on Oregonlive I am gonna shit like the last time you took my post out of context!!)
  17. Can I be your first sponsor? I'll give you Ten Bucks and an old sleeping bag... (that I used to screw my ex-gilrrfreind in on car camping trips... Imagine the memories in that bag!!)
  18. FANTASTIC!!! OUTSTANDING! It's reports like this that keep my spirits up! Too many home improvement projects prevent any climbing this year... But you're keeping my stoke up for next year. But, You're right, I would have brought the split board on that trip. (or skis in your case) There is nothing like spending 8-9 hours climbing, only to decend in 20-30 min.!
  19. Well I certainly learned a lesson about this. From now on I am gonna use a [sarcasm] tag anytime I am felling snarky and posting about it here. I apologize to anyone who got pissed at me because of my comments taken out of context and abused by some reporters.
  20. Yes. Thanks. And so as you would have it, the owner of that blog (I am not suprrised by this) did not post the entire response I sent him/her.... Oh well... thats the media for ya. (also noticed that he/she snipped the comment about the MLU's (which I thought would have indicated it was "sarcasm", but what do I know)) edit: I have removed my comments, on this incident. Hmmm.... Kids: make this a lesson.... the media watches CC.com.... And WILL publish your comments WITHOUT your permission... Posters beware.
  21. Well, I sent them an e-mail to remove my comment, and I will add a comment on their blog stating that my comment was taken out of context, and mas ment as sarcasm. Happy now?
  22. (deleted because I am just a dickhead!!!)
  23. (edit) Get your shit straight, or forget the trip. Weather is ALWAYS a factor..... (earlier junk was inflamitory, and thus deleted)
  24. (edit) I deleted this because it was used out of context. My mistake!!(/edit)
  25. Ooohhh... But right here, it looks like a fun ride, as long as you are good at dodging the climbers...
