Rest in peace, Mr. Eduard Burceag. I share your pain in your loss, Mariana Burceag. I lost my Father in a similar climbing accident. It's part of the measure of the Mountains. A calculated risk, we, as climbers, take. The rewards are great, but the risk is as well. We measure the balance of risk versus reward constantly, and make informed choices. We never know if the next trip is our last. That is the sacrifice we make.

I saw a roll of it hanging up at Next Adventure, but I don't know how much they are charging for it.

The best I can do is the first picture I posted in this thread. I-Rock is right behind my riding partners head. I know, his big assed noggin is obscuring the north side, but I recall that it was all rock this weekend, and it was fukin' HOT too. So, I doubt that there is actually any ice on the thing, but I could be wrong.

Conditioning is over rated... Drink beer every night, smoke as much a possible... And when it seems like it's shitty, keep going. When it's really shitty, rip the skins, transition back to board, and soak it up.

Yeah, it was a scorcher... I checked the timberline web site on Sun. at 7am... WTF!! 41ºF @ 6AM!!! I would be curious of the snow conditions that day. Most likely it was like skiing on one huge slurpee...

Thats only fun for rock nerds...

It was hot as shit saturday. Sweatin' my ass off on the slog, and barely escaped the mashed potatoes on the down... Left t-line at 5am, back at the car by 1pm.... Sweet ride from hogsback to about 9000' where it became windblown crap shit until the palmer lift.. Then you had to deal with the McShredders in crap core mogulled junk mixed with douche bag antics.

Anyone want to borrow my CO meter to see how deadly this thing REALLY is? I would do it my self, but I have no inclination to buy this thing, so it's up to you guys...

I'm pretty sure this is true, a few years ago a friend and I skinned up to T-Lodge from the Summit ski area and we went off to the right up a really mellow trail that came out near the lodge. From there you could go over to the climber's trail and skin up Palmer from there. No need to go through the ski area. On the way down we went down the steeper trail straight down from the lift. This has all changed as of this year, as T-Line installed a new lift, and a dozen new trails in that exact area...

This morning I skinned up Glade. Then I skinned up "kruser" which is one of the Timberline ski trails. One ski patrol guy paid no attention to me and my partner and our up-hill travel. Another Patroller slowed down like he was going to say something, but when he took one look at my bad assed looks, he just skiied on... Then while skinning up out of bounds along the mile, not one soul bothered us. Then I hit a white out half way up palmer. Time to pull the skins, transition back to a snowboard, and soak in the fresh powder... BTW, I have yet to get any real trouble for my up-hill exploits at Timberline. (Except for the prick patrollers at the top of palmer that DEMANDED to see my wilderness permit once. I told them to STFU, and the PMR guys that skinned up behind me concurred with me! If I where you, I would not worry about it. Also, in your newbile state, stay away from Alpine trail. Rutted, crap, and flat at the bottom. Glade is a nicer decent. Westleg trail is too mellow, and you need to pole alot....

No shit!!! Duh!!

Uhhhh..... Since when was Hitler considered a Communist? (He was quite the opposite)

I still don't understand why the cop "made you scrape" off the sticker on your plates. I have "10" stickers on my Jeep currently. Issued from the DMV on Interstate... I would have told that cop to get his facts straight. Nice TR though!! McLoughlin is on my tick list! How is the access?

After reading other people list of hobbies, I realized that I am not alone in my world of too many hobbies. Of all of them I am only marginally good at any of them. Well most of them. I have become an expert at drinking beer and surfing the internet.

I have heard that the stores along the route that sell water and beer, also sell O2 bottles for a modest fee... In case you feel a little winded...

I just read this thread.... Soooooo.... I guess it's not cool for me and my dirt bike friends to ride a Vantage anymore? That place rocks for dirt bikin'.

Really? That Beacon in the picture is the first generation model from something like four years ago... I know, I have the second generation model, and the shape is different, has a larger red button, and comes with integral case/strap set up... This deal starts to smell like.... (BTW, I paid $240 for mine last year, and they threw in a free BD probe and shipping!!!)

Actually those are the stock laces they come with. And, actually, Koflach Superpipe boots are snowboard boots (for use with plate bindings), but I guess they work just as well as mountaineering boots. As far as laces not freezing, I dunno, I have never had mine freeze up...

Uhhh.... I think that is what he is planning...

I go to the Mountains to stalk the hikers.... It's fun! Appear out of "nowhere!" And scare the shit out of them... I think it's a "total" gas!! LOL!

But you still have no car or friends.... That, sounds like teh suck to me.

No one cares.... I think that's the point.

Dr. Layton. My arm is hurting really bad these days.... My medical doctor told me that it's "tennis elbow"... So now I "have" to wear a "band".... I hate that apparatus. pretty sophomoric if you ask me. BS, I say, I trust that you, Dr. Layton can cure my elbow. Speaking of curing, how do I make an appointment?

That band sux.... I can't help ya....
