  1. They are, and have been trying to grind me, but I will not allow them to gain the upper hand. I will always be a city boy... Good thing I also have the "hills"...
  2. They where probably stolen out of some poor slob's car that was parked somewhere in SE Portland a few weeks ago... And you find it at a yard sale for a buck... Speaking of car burglaries, some moron broke into my work van and stole my company nextel, and my PRESCRIPTION sunglasses. Sure, take the useless stuff mister, and ignore the $1000's worth of pipe fitting tools and HVAC instruments in the back... The dufus will most likely sell it some dude for a buck at a yard sale...
  3. This might be a close as it gets... http://www.biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=4262
  4. Have you looked into this? http://www.globalcomsatphone.com/spot/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC There was a thread about I started in the gear section a while back.
  5. If you are interested in shipping (which I would pay for of course) I would take them off your hands. I am interested in making fancy climbing rope dog leashes and stuff of that sorts. (no joke!) Maybe a hammock!! Let me know.
  6. Whoa! That looked fairly painful to not just only the morons on the "couch" by the bystanders as well.
  7. So... You rock monkeys are now quoting poetry, and contemplating climbing stuff like "the temple of mormon" and other religious symbols.... That's just sad. Be like the rest of us, and stare at the hills as they cover in snow. Lusting for some turns.
  8. Have you been to Andy & Bax???? Close by to NA....
  9. Thats not the entire purpose of the unit, but I guess your point is that it is still a rescue transponder. But then again, so is an Avalanche Beacon. Do you also think that carrying a beacon causes more deaths from Avalanches?
  10. A normal PLB only sends an emergency message. This one, while also cheaper, can send "i'm ok" messages as well as track your progress/route etc. which I think is pretty neat. I know a standard GPS can do this too, but this one sends it to whatever recipient you choose. My wife saw this , and thought it was a good idea, since I tend to travel far outside any cell phone contact for multiple days etc. I guess just a little security blanket for her. Personally, if I where single, I could care less about this product.
  11. Has anyone seen this or used this yet? I know the don't officially sell them till next month, but I imagine someone has tested them. What do you guys know about this? Thoughts? I know, here comes the MLU noise, but this one can also send "non emergency" messages too... http://www.globalcomsatphone.com/spot/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC
  12. I was sitting here, thinking the same thing.
  13. So..... Ya don't want the Gregory Shasta after all? OK.... Next time, don't tell someone you "want it" and state a price, and call and not leave a message... Thats all..
  14. What are you sayin'?
  15. Thats cold.... Cold as ice.
  16. You know, reading through this thread, it reminds me: There is not a single pack or boot combination that is univerasl for everyone. This is the crux of this spot. You have to set a defined set of rules when shopping for gear. Look at what you want to do. There is no "one size fits all" piece when it comes to boots and packs. Hell, I use four different packs, three different boots, two different snowboard boots, three boards, and on and on.... (don't even start thinking about sleeping bags or ropes...) having friends with the same problem helps.
  17. Don't forget the details here! You also gotta have a few $$$$ for the McHale. I think it starts at $500, and goes up from there.
  18. 70cm, nuff said. (As far as the Lutherans are concerned)...
  19. Volume #4 of the holy grail. There is a Volume #7 now... It's required reading.
  20. I've got $100 from selling scrap copper... Let's start a pot!!! Heh.
  21. I have about 35-40 total days on it. I only use it back country, and not the resorts. I agree though, it is starting to have a bit of play in the binding interface. I guess it will only get worse over time. It just seems that the Voile is more cumbersome to put together with the slide plates and all. But hell, who am I kidding, I will eventually be riding a board with the voile interface sooner or later, unless they come up with something new/better. My buddies must have the older ones or something, because they seem to fight with the sliders all the time. Maybe their boards are not set up right. Yeah, I was aware of the lawsuit from voile. Kind of lame, but oh well. Like I said, eventually I will be riding a voile, unless I can get my hands on another burton! OK, thats enough splitboard talk hijacking the AT/Tele war.
  22. Ohhh... that is the quote of the year!! Especially the rock monkey comment!!! LET IT SNOW!!!! (and alot, please.)
  23. What! put on the brakes here. Screech... Hmm... I still ride the old Burton interface, and I have to disagree with you here. All I have to do is unsnap the binding, split, hook and go. I can even slap a crampon in while still attached to the "ski/binding" try that with a Voile set up. Every one of my splitter fiends have voile but me, and I am constantly waiting for them to put their shit back together. I would like to see less than 5 min with voile, especially in powder. (not that burton is great in powder either, but thats why I carry a small paintbrush!!) With voile, loose one pin, and you're screwed. No pins in my Burton.... Yeah, I know, there must be a reason why they discontinued the Burton... I guess I just like my set up, and am used to it.
  24. Exactly!! I even push with my poles in board mode if needed. No reassembly or disassembly required.
