Reason why?

I smell TROLL! All you suckers who bit for the bait with your wisdom of the ages were probably "had"....if you'd been on this site long enough, you might recall the lovely "Amber", who lured in all kinds of married and otherwise committed men who sent "her" personal invitations for private coaching....and then "published" them right here on cc.com! It was hilarious! Although I do recognize the very small possibility that this particular novice could be authentic....I ain't buying it! Not on this site! My apologies if I'm wrong but I doubt it. And then there was.....the lovely "Miss Normandy"..... Reel the suckers in!!!!

I think I met Mr. Tony last weekend in Longmire as he was getting ready to head up to Muir. He's a friendly, enthusiastic, strong, army-guy and he seems to have some good winter gear, including one of them personal locator-beacon thangs.
-
Maybe this unfulfilled lady should meet up with "Amber" or "Miss Normandy".

Here you go, dude...at least an excerpt of it. Nomi singing back-up for Bowie. I recall seeing this live when it first came out and found it really disturbing. The Man Who Sold The World There's a very interesting documentary about Nomi called "The Nomi Song"....I saw it awhile back on HBO's (?) free movie selections. Here's the trailer for the film:

Check out this video of the recipient of the new Golden Clip Awards for Excellence in Sport Climbing. This year's recipient, Klaus N., ascends the stage and accepts the award in the manner of a true Sporto! "Rap, Drill, Clip n' Go!", he bellows! Make sure you enlarge the screen and turn up the speakers for maximum effect.

Check out this news article from today: Nepal Sherpas Hold Service For Edmund Hillary A quote from some of the "exploited natives": "No one has helped the Khumbu (Everest) area or the Sherpas more than Hillary," said Pasang Lamhu, who runs a small hotel on the route to Everest. "We all owe the development of the area to this one legendary person," he said. "He was a special person who has made an immense contribution to both Sherpas and Nepal. A person like that is born only once and we are all indebted to him," said Nowang Kaji, a Sherpa who summated Everest in 2001. After conquering the world's tallest peak on May 29, 1953, Hillary returned to Nepal several times and founded the Himalayan Trust, which has built 27 schools, two hospitals and 12 clinics around Mount Everest. Thousands of people have benefited from the trust's projects and the Sherpa community reveres Hillary as a result.

Hey SeanD25...you come out of nowhere with your first post to suggest bad-vibes about the guy. Bugger-off. He was a humble man who gave back. I had the priviledge of meeting Sir Edmund a few years ago....I was awed by his modesty and impressed by his gratitude. Exploited "the natives"? You're full of crap...take your poll and shove it! To the memory of a splendid role model!

Never forget how the power of climbers swung the election in 2004! Sept. 9, 2004 Update: A Colorado Climbers4Kerry branch kicked off with an event at Spot Bouldering Gym on July 28. Climbers4Kerry's major focus continues to be the September "Take Back America" effort in Yosemite, encouraging climbs up El Cap's N.A. Wall or another El Cap route. While in Yosemite Climbers4Kerry plans to hold slideshows at the Lower River Amphitheater and bring in speakers such as Conrad Anker, Heidi Wirtz, Jim Donini, Ron Kauk, Pete Takeda and Timmy O'Neill. "Excuse me, uh, would one of you guys like to take me and my stapler up, uh, the Salathe Wall so John Kerry will win the presidential election?"

Anybody want four years of this? Or more likely, this?
-
Whatever, dude. It's clear you have little understanding of the things you so freely mock. You want to go to a nice Friday evening Erev Shabbat* service with me? You can sit in the back row and laugh your ass off and see how that goes over. How about Sunday! Join me for a visit to a local Christian congregation...spew forth your usual crap and see how entertaining YOU are. Grow up, little man. *For your education: "Erev Shabbat" is Friday evening, the beginning of Shabbat/Shabbos/Sabbath". Most synagogues hold a weekly evening ("erev") service welcoming the special day.

Nice cliché. How old did you say you were? Thread drift? You got something meaningful and respectful to say about "avalanche deaths this season"?
-
So you admit to paraphasing stuff...and it's clearly stuff YOU, YOURSELF, DON'T UNDERSTAND. By the way, a "typical middle-American, middle-class" Jew doesn't make a hobby of, or money off, VULGARLY mocking the traditions of their faith and that of their ancestors. Judaism would be half-extinct tomorrow if that was the case. Would you like that? You are hopelessly ignorant, and I suggest that if you want to persist, you can take it up another level and throw some of your latest spew at these folks: ADL And if you think you're really tough, little man, have a talk with these boys: (And don't forget to mention your special comment about bacon and Torah scrolls.) J.D.L. All others don't click here unless you don't mind being monitored. Ahh...never mind....you'd be a waste of their time.

Yah....we all got the quote and the so-called message...that ain't the point. You seem to think everything is one big joke. You want some further "veracity"? Do these names ring a bell to you?: Dave Stutzman, Karl Schneider, Nancy Jackson, Jim Andreus....Never heard of them? All of them were highly educated in avalanche theory and all of them met their deaths in the sliding snow...all of them were good friends of mine. The first three noted were professional mountains guides and I worked with the first two. I'm sure a number of people on this site knew and loved them. Save your lame paraphrastic attempts at comedy for some topic that's more conducive to it. How old are you? Same goes for you, "Choada boy".

You've really taken spray DOWN to a whole new level. Are you proud of yourself??? Add the comments above to your growing list of anti-Jewish verbiage. And yes, it is anti-Jewish. You might even be Jewish yourself, but that doesn't excuse it. Is that what you believe? Then take your poison elsewhere. If you're just joking for shock-value...grow up and take it elsewhere. I guess you can claim that you don't do all those things but it apparently didn't keep you from spraying your usual garbage here and there. By the way, you don't know even what you're talking about. Shabbat/Shabbos isn't "on Saturday". It begins sundown on Friday evening and ends at sundown on Saturday evening. It's up to the individual to decide to what extent they wish to honor the Sabbath by not working or otherwise. Some Jews keep it faithfully, others partially, and some ignore it all together. P.S. I removed the Nazi shirt picture because, as someone else pointed out, the picture of the shirt in juxtaposition to the picture of the Torah was perhaps too disturbing...I agree. You got a response from me? Happy? I'll now leave it to the moderators as to how much of your crap they wish to tolerate. Take it away.....moderators!
-
You guys are twisted....save it for "spray".

Raindawg concurs: award the man the title he deserves: ALPINE BUDDY. Strip the current disappointing proud owner of his "uniquesness" and apply it to the current flavor....that flavor being....none other than....Mr. Mark McKillop.
-
First of all, I don't hold my views because I think I'm wrong. Do you do that? "Stuffed down your throat", eh? The internet is messages and ideas. YOU have a choice whether it's "stuffed down your throat": Choice #1: Post by Raindawg: read/not read Choice #2: Read Post: agree/disagree Choice #3: respond/don't respond. Thirdly, you can't claim to speak for MOST folks on cc.com nor can I...neither of us know how many we "speak for". I have, however, met plenty of folks who appreciate what I've written over the years and some have been swayed by my arguments. You don't have to like or appreciate anything. What a country!

Once again (and again, and again): Sure I've clipped bolts in my time, although very few sport climbs. I've actually placed perhaps 3 bolts in my life. They were drilled by hand and were for belay anchors. I believe bolts do have their RARE place [in short: to be avoided as they are permanent alterations to the landscape. They should be rare and safe; thoughtful belay and rappel anchors might be exceptions and other placements should, again, be few and far apart.] It's their proliferation that I detest and free-wheeling, bolt-dependent "sport-climbing" is a vile offender. I subscribe to the "leave little trace" philosophy of outdoor interaction; "Sport climbing" is an utter violation. I'd rather see climbing areas closed than see them grid-bolted. UNDERSTAND IT NOW??? And while we're at it....hypocrisy debates [a type of ad hominem attack] are only smoke-screens to avoid addressing the real issues....I could have clipped thousand of sport routes and still have issues with them. It might be personally inconsistent with one's beliefs, but it doesn't cause the issue itself to vanish. By the way, I've never bolted a crack. I suggest you put up your evidence. Stupid, eh? Whatever, Sparky. I noted Godwin's law in a previous post and consulted the very same link before I made my comments, specifically: The "law" [which in fact is not a "law"] is ultimately telling, yet silly, and joins Murphy's and those of other similar validity. Regarding my original comment for "DeChristo" to take off his uniform and sit in the corner....you apparently have no idea how utterly offensive his comment was. For a Christian, it would probably be like spitting on the cross of Jesus. Rabbi Alfred Kolatch stated it nicely with: "The Torah is the centerpiece of Judaism and the key to Jewish survival." Hundreds of Torah scrolls were confiscated or destroyed by the Nazis when they razed or burned synagogues. (although a few were dramatically rescued). Some have survived and to this day have been given to newly formed Jewish congregations around the world. The Nazi reference was to add emotional and historical power to my reaction, despite Godwin's opinion. As I noted above, Closet Nazi, eh? Looks like it's your turn to go sit in the corner....do some more "wondering" until you come to your senses.
-
I am dealing with it....I am providing awareness to him, you and whoever. You think that everyone should sit passively back and just "take it" without commenting??? No riots, no threats, no censorship advocated here....just offering a perspective. A number of participants on cc.com had a jolly time peeing all over Christianity in that Denali Expedition topic....It was probably inevitable that Judaism's turn would come up.
-
that's funny man. by the way, i'm jewish and i eat pork. That's not the point. To some, (maybe not you), "DeChristo"'s comments are about on the same level as the so-called "N-word". Now ain't that a funny quote, "TREETOAD"? Whatever.
-
It's all about your profound and crass disrespect. It also involves your profound ignorance of history. I suggest that you think about it....but I doubt that you will. Unimaginative that someone on cc.com would make a comment about rolling pork flat with a Torah scroll. By the way, Godwin's so-called "law" doesn't exclude appropriate associations.
