Kurt, in my extensive free time I play the harmonica. Cook is going to start playing the ukelle(sp?), maybe you should get an instrument, tamborine? and we can have a band called the 'dirty hippie'

No, Matt, just because I haven't gotten up from a sitting position for the last 2 1/2 months or showered or don't work, or don't do laundry, cook or clean doesn't make me a hippy. I am such a hippy and you love it!

This must be the American version because I believe Fern got the Best Alpine Hardwoman. But, thankyou Roboboy.
  13. You could try going to a physical therapist that is a gait specialist, they will analyze how you stand on it and point out weak areas and can show you exercises that will specifically help you. An extremely easy exercise to do anywhere (standing in line, in the kitchen, etc.) is to just stand on one foot, the injured one, like a flamingo, and make sure you are not rolling it in or out, just point it straight ahead, then close your eyes and concentrate on keeping it straight and strong. This has really helped me in the past.
  14. I have been recently disabled for the next 6 months. My finances came from Pell grants and students loans not only can I not go to school I am not sure if I am allowed to recieve state assistance with medical bills that insurance doesn't cover and rent and food etc. because I may jeopardized my insurance benefits if I were to file independent with the state. Though I am I have to say I am dependent with my mother to still receive insurance. Not only are my funds gone, car, had to move, my boyfriend and mom have been taking care of me and my boyfriend and have been missing work. Without support from family I don't see how I could survive.

  16. Bug said Nerves grow back really slowly, well how long do they usually take? The nerves in my foot are regenerating right now and it FUCKING HURTS! Like someone is pulling out my toenails and cutting the bottom of my foot with knives while pouring salt on it and having an elephant step on it, like 1,000 sting ray stings. I got some nerve pain medicine and other pain killers but it only works a little. I think I got frostnip on my fingers a couple years ago, one in particular, it is a numb hard white spot on the tip and every time it gets cold it peels. But damn Tobin, that looks pretty bad, how long did it take to develop to that stage, what the hell did you do?
  17. My boyfriend and I went out there once to try to find that place, couldn't. Instead we caught frogs and swabbed a couple bass some guys caught and I tested them for chytrid fungus, those potholes have so much chytrid! The state finally recognized the problem last spring and contributed to it more by putting in a bunch of poison to eradicated the bullfrogs (carrier of chytrid) and consequentially all the other frogs, a little more complicated than that but I sure wouldn't eat the bass or any bullfrogs from there!!!
  18. The doctors say I have 4-6 months before walking but I am thinking that once I get out of this body brace in 1-2 months I may be able to swim because it is non-weight baring on the legs. Maybe you could talk to them about swimming, like maybe with just a kickboard or wearing a stomach thing and do underwater running. Super low impact but a good change. If not, I'll be moving to Seattle soon and would like to have a long distance walking partner when I can again.
  19. I have a different opinion, I like that the area is a little harder to access.
  20. Well, I can't get outside by myself. oh, I think I might know what you're talking about with the arm bike, that's a good idea.
  21. I would be against openning the road. This summer we mt biked up to fluffy kitten wall to the wonderful thing about tiggers, it was probably the nicest climb I've ever done, really fun! One of the greatest things about it was that there was no one else around! It was a nice change to the zoo of other crags closer to the road (not that it's unexpected). Gertlush is right, such a fast & fun ride back.
  22. I think my last post was deleted but this was a legitimate question. What would anyone recommend for a cardio workout for someone in a wheelchair that cannot get outside and is forced by a body brace to be reclined at 45 degrees? I was thinking of maybe ocean kayaking, can you do it reclined? Or one of those sitting bikes, though it is a problem to move legs.
