  1. ^ practice at home... love that mental picture. I can only imagine what my wife would say.
  2. Get whatever fits your feet the best between scarpa and la sportiva. Even on proform, la sportivas can be pricey. What size are you looking for?
  3. I am sure there are some parkas from MEC that would be great to test out.
  4. This is found as a sticky on TGR, and while it applies to ski stuff, I think we could generally apply it to climbing stuff. "50% of current selling price (not MSRP) -10% per year old -10% per times drilled, per core shot, per delam...etc -10% per marker binding attatched +10-30% for Rare/High-demand item "
  5. Norrona Falketind softshell and the Patagonia ascensionist are my current favorites. I did like my gamma mx hoody, but found it to be pretty heavy, and when it got wet it held water like a sponge.
  6. Love the red chili spirits... glad to see that they have served you so well.
  7. Is it in? Has anyone been up there lately? How about the ice on table mountain? Any info would be greatly appreciated... trying to plan a trip. thanks.
  8. anyone have any recent updates on this? What is the best way to get there? I am assuming you take the heliotrope trail... How was the road to the trailhead?
  9. I love the green fuzzy feeling I get when shopping with companies that actually care about the environment.
  10. vireo in eVent is the holy grail of minimalist mountaineering. Great bag made by a great company.
  11. Has anyone ever heard of the clymb.com? A friend just told me about it. It seems like an interesting idea. Private sale for invited members, discounts at or around 70% off retail. I heard that they do this in the fashion industry, but it is interesting to see this in the outdoor industry. Check it out. Here is an invite. (can't post invite here... PM me if interested) Full disclosure... if you click the link, you get an invite from me. Once you place your first order I get a $10 credit. If you do not want to hook me up, that is totally cool. just follow this link to check it out.
  12. chuck it... or don't fall on it. seriously... get rid of it. You'll sleep better.

Get hooked in with the mountaineers or boealps or some organized class. Get a copy of freedom of the hills and study it. Basic information, but good stuff. Learn some rope management/crevasse rescue skills before you go. As nice as most mountaineers are, no one really wants to drag your butt out of a crevasse and miss/delay their summit attempt.
  14. wow. thats all I can say... wow.
  15. nice collection.
  16. I have both and love both. The ascensionist is more of a shell... very minimalist. The gamma mx has a light fleece backing to it, so it is a little heavier. I also love the chest pockets on the gamma, they come in handy. If you are looking for something super light and breathable, you can't go wrong with the patagonia. Just realize that if you want any sort of warmth, you will have to layer under it. Both jackets are great... you really can't go wrong with either, if they fit well enough.
  17. condolences to the Copp family and friends.
  18. it is called the hooded helios... size it way up and ask for it in eVent
  19. I know their hyperion and helios are cut small, but I wouldn't say the volant is cut small. It seems to be cut to accomodate layers like a true belay jacket. I say go with a volant, and add a few extra ounces of down at $10 per ounce, and call it good.
  20. The tenshi is definately burlier than the fabric on the BD superlights...
  21. love the tenshi. Well thought out, and very sturdy. I moved from an eldorado to the tenshi, and I am glad I did.
  22. yeah... FF still made in seattle.
  23. too bad Leeper stopped making pins and stuff... his stuff was always bomber
  24. mammut genesis. Enough said.
  25. Smoke signals and signal mirrors work for me.
