  1. if you want the best deal going in beacons right now get this one. Way better than the tracker in my opinion. Easier to use and more accurate. Offer them $90... I got one last year for that. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ortovox-S1-Avalanche-Beacon-Digital-Transceiver-Backcountry-Ski-Snow-No-Harness-/381035618282?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58b77e1fea
  2. I have always enjoyed Josh and his attitude. Hope he heals up quick and gets back at it.
  3. Solid work. Stunning pics.
  4. Just get some real AT gear. If you look around, you can get setup pretty cheaply. $100-$300.
  5. Love Ramutas. Nothing but great things to say about my dealings with them.
  6. Nice job Mikey!
  7. hmmm... let me see if I can fix it.
  8. store.usgs.gov Which ones are you guys getting for mountaineering? Or just to put up on the wall? Tons of maps on sale.
  9. While the FF/WM bags are the best of the best (I prefer FF), if you are on a tight budget you really should try to Stoic Somnus 30. Stoic is Backcountry.com's house brand, and while some of their stuff is hit and miss; I really like the sleeping bag. 850+ fill down, mine weighs around 1 lb. 4 oz. Brand name shell fabric... and the best thing about it is the price. I paid $125. If you look around long enough you should find it around that price. FF is a great bag, and if you really take good care of your gear, FF bags will last a long time. But, if you are under a tight budget constraint, check out the stoic somnus.
  10. Ok. General consensus is as follows. 1. I'll test them for you! 2. You should be fine 3. They are nasty anyways, just eat them up. :-) Sounds good. Thanks all.
  11. ok... just knocked one back. french vanilla. A little wonky tasting... not like they tasted great in the first place. Feels a little thinner in consistency... no hard crunchy stuff. I will update this with every detail, over the next day or so. Yep. Every detail.
  12. hmmm... 4 years past expiration might ferment it. We will have to see.
  13. Ok... so I was clearing out my gear closet, and found three boxes of expired gu gel. (expired June of 2008). The responsible part of me says to just throw this away, but the cheap side of me says to use them up. So, I need the advice of the collective... would you use it?
  14. mad props to you. Very nicely done.
  15. just do it yourself. I am a total idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff, and I have mounted a few pairs. Take your time... measure a bunch... then go for it. +1 for that Wildsnow article. That is what I used.
  16. thanks Kurt. I appreciate it.
  17. I saw that Deaths Picnic is kinda in on Table, but was wondering if there is any ice near Pan Dome? I am taking some beginners up there, and they wanted to mess around on some ice.
