Last time I went through I got a friendly wave, didn't even have to stop. The one guy at the station had pulled a chair out into the sun and was just sitting there waving people through. On the way back, the station was closed. I want that job. This was on Highway 199 south of Grants Pass.

My depression started when he got elected in 2000. The great depression came in 2004 after he somehow got re-elected.

I frostbit my two big toes years ago and they have never been the same. The toenails look like shit and fall out every couple of years. My feet are also way more sensitive to cold than they used to be.

EXPERTS CALL BUSH PRESIDENCY WORST DISASTER IN NATION’S HISTORY Cost of Damage Estimated In The Zillions Four and a half years after he was first sworn in as president, experts in the field of disaster assessment today called the presidency of George W. Bush the worst disaster in the history of the United States of America. The sober assessment came from the University of Minnesota’s Enormous Disaster Institute, which studies and attempts to quantify colossal disasters, both natural and manmade. Dr. Lorraine Cresser, who heads the Institute, said that the University of Minnesota experts decided to place the current administration at the top of the nation’s list of huge disasters after assessing the damage the White House has caused over the past four and a half years, both at home and abroad. “After taking a good look at the wreckage the Bush presidency has created, we would estimate the cost of the damage at somewhere in the mid to high zillions,” Dr. Cresser said. Hours after the University of Minnesota released its findings, House Speaker Dennis Hastert said that given the high price tag, rebuilding the Bush presidency “doesn’t make sense to me.” Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Rep. Hastert said that based on what he had seen of the Bush presidency lately, “It looks like a lot of it could be bulldozed.” But hours later, the Speaker backtracked somewhat, telling reporters, “Like most Republicans in Congress, I have been drinking very heavily for the past several days.” Elsewhere, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said today that his department would intensify the search for those missing since Hurricane Katrina hit, including Vice President Dick Cheney. http://www.borowitzreport.com/archive_rpt.asp?rec=1209&srch=

BARBARA BUSH RELOCATED Former First Lady Moved to New Location Away From Cameras, Microphones Just days after former First Lady Barbara Bush made widely publicized remarks about people made homeless by Hurricane Katrina, the White House said today that Mrs. Bush had been moved to “a new location away from television cameras and microphones.” Mrs. Bush, who in talking about Katrina refugees said that “This is working very well for them” and that many of them “were underprivileged anyway,” was transported to a facility where she will have plenty of food and water but no more media appearances, the White House confirmed. “She will be much more comfortable in this new location, surrounded by armed guards on a 24-hour basis, than she was at her compound in Kennebunkport,” said White House spokesman Scott McClellan. “This is working very well for her.” Responding to a reporter who questioned whether Mrs. Bush would be happy being uprooted from her estate, Mr. McClellan said, “She was overprivileged anyway.” While the White House took credit for its success in relocating Mrs. Bush, some congressional critics argued that it did not act quickly enough to relocate the outspoken former First Lady. “This was an emergency situation,” said Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del). “They should have relocated her the minute she opened her piehole,” For her part, the former First Lady remained out of view, but released the following official statement: “I am doing well, but I remain envious of those who were relocated after Hurricane Katrina – boy, do those folks have a sweet deal.” Elsewhere, President Bush mourned the passing of actor Bob Denver, calling the “Gilligan’s Island” star “a great American and a role model for me personally.” http://www.borowitzreport.com/

Oh! It is so small I didn't recognize there was a building. Here it is up close. Check out the slabs in the background! I think my dad and I took the same trip you did, but in 2002. We went from Ortezi to Cortina on the Alta Via (I forget which one).

jkeller replied to plark42's topic in Climber's Board
How far north in CA? I live in Medford and am looking for a partner for easy class 5 climbing. I'm willing to teach a new leader if you know how to belay, etc. -
Trader Joe's Bavarian Hefeweizen! It is the closest thing to the real stuff you get in Germany and Austria that I have found stateside. My Dad brought me some and said "You gotta try this." I almost cried. Bananas! Cloves! It is the real deal. Best of all it is like $4.99 a sixpack! Too bad the nearest TJs is 2 hours away...
