It's OK, underworld, there must be a good reason for it if you dig a little deeper. But if a republican had done it...!!!

Opinions on light tents for extreme conditions?
ClimbingPanther replied to khh's topic in The Gear Critic
I talked my sisters into buying a REI Subalpine, which seems so far to be a good tent for the conditions you describe. Tent w/ fly, 2-person, light (~4.5lbs), 3-pole strong design. If it HAS to be waterproof, I will assume you don't mean it needs to be a high-altitude hurricane-proof bomb shelter. -
Lam, you know I was just joking, playing off the line "the best climber is the one having the most fun," right?
-
You think you're so subtle. Why don't you just come out and say "leashless is the best climbing because..."

Clothes are aid. No pics, please! But seriously, I thought aid was when you ceased to be climbing the actual rock/ice and started climbing ladders off of gear? What does the word aid mean anymore? Anything more than what [one person] considers purely ethical? Seems to me like the major "aid" is going on with the pick & points themselves, and anything that helps you hold on (shoelaces?) is secondary. Does anyone climb ice by chopping hand and foot holds anymore? They're the real heroes here folks. Long live the English measurements!

CNN reports that Hell -- that's right, the lake of fire, satan's once tropical oasis -- is now a solid block of ice. Well, at least we can assume this is true given their recent report that Democrats are more fiscally responsible than Republicans. Does anyone know what implications this has for the Senate? Will our beloved #1 porker, Maria Cantwell, be crying her eyes out tonight?

Ya OK I got a little melodramatic esp. with the title, I just wanted to get some responses. So my G-ma didn't need heart surgery or any huge thing like that... Not a single family doctor would even give her an appointment no matter what the reason! As soon as you mention "medicare," doctors essentially hang up the phone. Anyway, that was just to illustrate that the supplier is in charge of who he will supply, rather than the consumer in charge because he has a choice. An illustration that there is something very wrong and capitalism's foundation, free choice, is undermined in medicine. So malpractice is one obvious problem... how to fix it? Victims of real wrongs should be compensated fairly, but their compensation should not involve limitless cash. There needs to be a reasonable cap on judgments since that money will inevitably come from you and me in the form of higher medical costs and because some fields of treatment are becoming grossly under-supplied as a direct result of this problem. Is there any other way to stop the malpractice bleeding? Caps have already been proven to work in several states, including the great state of California. Why don't we have these laws yet?

kev, I'm happy for you that you enjoy seahawks/phil jones/shini, but it's just not everybody's thing. clearly it's not e-rock's thing. I gotta ignore when the avatar is disruptive, stupid, and antagonistic.

I assume you've been generating a list of gear stores & websites. Only one I know of and didn't see is NorthernMountain.com, where I and my partner got our first rope and other stuff. Also, when you know what you want, Froogle is a great way to check out tons of online shops prices at once.

Go easy on her, mattp. She's just being the mediator here. She's taking a stand between you and strippers. You should have known that was her location.

Hey man, don't forget about the "ignore" button! I used it for the first time during the H**d aftermath and am about to do it again.

The only place I've been with impressive mountains would be the Alps, but I would heartily recommend them, especially in Switzerland. What a wonderful place! Wish I was a climber when I visited.

But Arch, how will I know if they just say "woman" that she wasn't a stripper in her spare time? You're destined to prevail in this
