  1. okay, but in a world of invitro-fertilization lesbians can still have kids, no? possible, but not natural
  2. i think the difference is that in a polygamist situation there is still the natural way to reproduce. it's still man/woman (or man/woman/woman/woman/etc etc) which is more conducive to life than man/man or woman/woman.
  3. wait a second... this is supposed to raise awairness of global warming, ie, save the glaciers. from what i hear most of the time on denali is spent making water (from the glacier). shouldn't your trip be to someplace where you wouldn't have to MELT GLACIERS WITH A STOVE to survive? just sayin...
  4. seems like they keep pushing out the date. i've only seen them offered on mtntools? there's this...
  5. wouldn't that be true of any offset??
  6. I'm not sure if these are a new nut on the market or not, but i got some recently and had the first opportunity to use them on sunday. some luscious upper town wallin allowed for many offset nut placements. these things are the bomb. cheaper than hb offsets and easier to get. $10.50 each or a set (1-5) for $45. just wanted to get the word out on another offset micro nut option. specs
  7. i was the black shirt... we did GD first, then rapped to the top of the chimney of TC and topped out on it to walk off. the hardest part of GD or TC is the stuppid effin top out pitch... damm i hate that thing. pulling on twigs smearing on moss.
  8. it turned into a wet foggy mess at about 6:30....just in time for the lovely top-out pitch... toher than that... bitchin day up there. [we were the other party] - i couldn't believe there wasn't a line of folks up there either. looked like you guys were having a good day out - nice send!
  9. why so much gear for each anchor??? keep it simple! i bet each one of those stances could be house a bomber anchor consisting of 2 pieces and a double sling. if you ask me...complex, time consuming anchors like the ones pictured could be a ill side effect of the john long books. that is, newer climber think that complex anchors are a must and try to mimic those in the book. good to know these things for some high-load applications (hauling, sleeping, rescuing etc)...but for these 'sport' trad routes - keep things fast and simple.
  10. "only upgrade stuff if it does a better job or is lighter" how is that anticonsumerism?
  11. people watch you p00p (even if it is thru telescopes)
  12. if you go down you're humiliated if you don't you keep getting punished
  13. remember, the military is made up of those that had no other options in life... the poor and the stupid at least that's what i've heard here before (maybe not from you)
  14. i guess this means his son is underprivileged.... weird

    REI

the REI in salt lake is in the same strip mall as IME. i was talking to the owner about it and he had no problem being next to them. realizing that they each had their markets and they actually complimented eachother in what they sold. the thing is, i rarely go to one without going in the other....and this has brought business to IME. similarly, i'm sure FF gets a lot of business from people that go to rei...park once, shop twice! (btw - IME is a totally bitchin shop. if you're in the area, it's the place to go)

    Jokes......

A man walked into the Dr. office and says it hurts when he goes to the bathroom. The Dr. told him to loosen his grip.
  17. you should do this and clip the bite to your rap/belay loop...keeps you on lead, protected by the last piece while you thread the anchor! Better yet, just pass a bite of rope through the anchor, tie figure 8, clip the 8 into your belay loop, and untie the end of your rope, pull loose end through the anchor and lower. don't lower through the anchors!! if you're tr'ing, use qd's or build an anchor. if cleaning: rap off!!!
  18. soloist claimed. (sorry bug, happy birthday any-whooo)
  19. Montrail Index shoes. size 43.5 (too small...for comparison i wear a 42 mythos and 43 anasazi) never used : $50 wren soloist. barely used : $50 in salt lake right now, and would rather not ship. i'll be in seattle next week and again mid april. thanks! bob
