  1. Just ski. I told the wife that if there wasn't anyone else up high I'd turn around near CR. It was just great to be up there, summit or not.
  2. Yes, take the skis. I played hooky this morning and it was just me and the Sno-cat passing each other as I went up. Just above the Palmer, is powder suger intermixed with hard ice. The upper mountain still needs a lot more snow. I had the whole South Side to myself. No other climbers had registered and I didn't see one other person. Incredible turns from the top of the Palmer all the way to the car. SCHWEET! The weather was absolutely awesome. I'd have to say, one of the best days ever. Relatively warm, beautiful sunshine and zero wind (except a little up high). Yeah, I saw the registration of those cats that went up Reid Headwall. Now, that route and Leutholds I'm sure is just getting very tasty. It needs to be had. Enjoy!
  3. I couldn't agree more.
  4. REI Mistrals are great. They do have a thigh pocket, but it doesn't stick out or is obtrusive in any way. I have had two pair and they are a pretty good lightweight pant.
  5. Best prose I've read all week.
  6. I was looking at this thread the other day and wondering what the latest was. Then I saw it highlighted tonight and thought that perhaps he was found...or at a minimum, there was some resolution to this. Sorry to see that's not the case.
  7. Vintage ~1965 Salewa DBP ice screws?? They work great!
  8. Yeah. Here is a taste of what people thought of the "movie."
  9. I should be able to make it. I'll email you cats.
  10. Oops. It's Sunday night. Wonder if he went. This week, as long as it cools down enough at night, looks tasty. I may be up for "the loop" on Wednesday.
  11. Just go. Study the hell out of the weather data right before hand. Get up there and study the route as you climb. Get to the shrund and make your decision. Left gully...right gully. Knock it out and post an epic TR. Don't forget pictures.
  12. Thanks John!
  13. I'll back you up 100%!
  14. That was brilliant. I was sold long ago and have never looked back.
  15. I was afraid the ask the same question. Thanks for stepping up.
  16. Or ski with climbing boots. I'm going to push that paradigm and get as much skiing (approach and descent) with a pair of tightly laced Verticals. They fit like a glove and though they aren't nearly as stiff as the G-Fits I've used, I really like the way they climb. But definitely not a day-to-day ski boot.
  17. That's a good question. Do they close that road incrementally (if that's possible) as the snow falls at specific elevations? Or do they shut it down at the bottom at the fork as soon as any significant snow falls?
  18. That was an outrageous story. I would have bailed much sooner. I was really surprised he took all the abuse. It has nothing to do with being a hardman on a big wall, give me a break. Those guys were complete mother-fuckers who will one day get paid back dearly.
  19. It's only a parole violation if they find out.
  20. I saw it too and I agree. That one Jeep segment was over the top with the skiers and they're Jeep Logo on their backs. JEEP...JEEP...JEEP...blah blah blah. And $25 a ticket?? That's it for me. The music wasn't too bad though.
  21. Lowbrow...perfect.
  22. I'm hard pressed to think that a roof-top rack system is designed to hold "two adults and two children." That's what possibly 500 lbs.? Plus gear?? And the tent itself weighs 118 lbs. That's a lot of weight for your gutters or roof top.
  23. Great job Tony! That was an awesome TR.
  24. Seems like a smart business move and a great way to service your customers. That's great news. Thank you!
