  1. Potter did do something illegal. The regulation just wasn't specific enough to stand up to a constitutional challenge in court. Public / state perception and access is the issue here, not whether Potter will get ticketed. That is irrelevant. The Park Service didn't misinform anyone, what are you talking about?
  2. Not in the short run, but long term ramifications ... Another stone in the puddle and all that.
  3. It is pretty close to Slickrock State Park.
  4. Curious too. Someone answer question.
  5. Spindrift? You bailed because of spindrift and some small chunks of ice? Then wrote a TR about it? Weeksauce.
  6. I wonder of Micro found the route to be vibrating with energy. I hope he at least followed nature's rules and joined nature in his ascent. Way to be bitchin Mike
  7. Among other things, internet forums like this foster discussion of the issues of the day. A modern day community center, public park, street, or sidewalk for fostering a marketplace of ideas. Condemning such discussion that relates to these important issues as an "internet lynch mob" seems to be to be the equivalent of touting censorship of expression. Would you prefer the alternative, Mr. CJ001f, that people not express their opinions and thoughts because of fear of being labeled too reactionary?
  8. With the snow the moves down low are probably non existent and I wouldn't say that chimney is as hard as 5.6.

    New Age

You must pronounce "sewage" funny. Maybe you did turn into a Canadian.
  11. To attone, the climbing community should make Dean complete the five most lengthy bushwacks in the Cascades (Dome, Bear, Mox, etc.)in the rain without climbing anything.
  12. Find a little vixen that wants to "experiment" with an older couple.
  13. Maybe. Though on the frontpage of Arches website it does say, "as of May 9, 2006, climbing is prohibited on ..." If it was already closed, I'm sure Arches would have had the authority to enforce the rules and level penalties.
  14. I still wonder what the Park Superintendant was talking about when she said if climbers don't cooperate she will have her solicitor close Delicate Arch to climbing permanently. Wasn't it already closed permanently?
  15. It could be that, the compendium listing arches off limits to climbing was "voluntary" like climbing during certain periods sacred to Natives at Devil's Tower. Or maybe it didn't have an enforceability provision or something. If so, its just as irresponsible of Dean to climb the Arch, maybe even more so than if it were enforceably illegal. The onus is on him to understand the regs before climbing and filming it for the digi.

    LAZER

You should posit your query on some LAZER dork website. There's probably a whole underground community that sits around and sprays about LAZERs all day.
  17. That was my first impression. If the reg's aren't clear, then its the Park's fault, not Dean's.
  18. Marginalization of climbers, etc.? Please expound.
  19. Now THAT was extreme. You got it on the digi, right?
