You have false information. The cam wasn't at the base of the route it was placed up on some ledge. If Erik was up there climbing at the time, Dan was not aware of it. Dan doesn't know Erik and has never been contacted by Erik. I don't even know if Dan knows that the cam belongs to Erik.

Damn. I got caught in a slide skiing this year. Pretty unreal experience trying to swim and getting tossed around. We lost our digi camera in that episode too. Glad you didn't get the chop.

The snowpack is holding strong and you can nearly ski anywhere now that you could in the winter, esp. above 3 - 4 k feet. If you aren't familiar with much of the backcountry skiing spots in Washington I'd reccomend Washington Pass, after getting some beta first, or a run from Muir down to Paradise on Ranier. You might also have fun skinning up a ski area now that they are closed. You'd have fun at Crystal or Stevens. The corn is real good right now if you time it right.

I'd suggest picking up one of Nelson's Select guidebooks and maybe looking at the volcanoes for July skiing.
