That analogy is pretty much retarded. Some people think the government should regulate gun ownership very very minimally, or not at all. Others think the government should place very restrictive regulations on gun ownership, like in the House Bill in question. I disagree with both points of view. I would argue we need some reasonable restrictions on firearm sales and ownership.

This is good advice. But then again you might get hit by a bus tomorrow or die in a freak avalanche on some dog route on a Volcano. That being said I wouldn't go trying to solo the north face of the Devil's Thumb any time soon. I guess for everyone there's a certain amount of risk they are willing to take for the possibility of a payoff (new route, summit). As a youth I think you tend to be willing to take more risk because you don't think you will be the one getting curb stomped by a cleaving serac. However, as a lot of elite alpinists have shown us, risk is relative and can be mitigated by skill, decision-making, and fitness.

Always have, always will. Nope. Bullets kill people. On that note, I like Chris Rock's proposed answer to gun control. He says we shouldn't prohibit any particular type of firearm, we should just make bullets cost $1000 each. That way noone can afford to shoot anyone unless they really need too.
