  1. PM me if you need a ride from the Downtown Seattle area. I am leaving around 5ish and have 1 (maybe 2) spaces in my car. Brianna
  2. Who issues this pass? We are headed out there this weekend and want to snap up a pass to avoid costly tickets. Thanks! Brianna
  3. I'm chiming in as another Tikka Plus fan ....
  4. Intelligance? My two cents ... hats off to Ed Viesturs for having more perserverence and drive than I'll probably ever have. Inspirational.
  5. Bueno. Got my gear packed and a pocket full of dollars to spend on post-cragging pitchers. See all you lovelies (and one manly - if he can be convinced to join us) next Thursday! Yahoo! Brianna
  6. I would love to get on board with this. Maybe an "every two weeks" kinda gig? Here's my proposed schedule. May 10th May 24th June 7th June 21st Should be some fun times if we can pull it together! Let me know how I can help. Brianna
  7. John Gauthier? Any relation to Rainier's own Mike Gauthier? I hope not. Best wishes to all involved.
  8. Sorry Marie, I am out for this week due to other plans. Just a thought ... maybe you should consider opening this up to all of cc.com instead of just limiting it to the gals ... I bet you'd have plenty of offers for folks to set up top ropes! Have fun at the crags tomorrow ... I'll catch you next time!

    REI tents

A friend of mine uses the REI Mountain 2 Tent (2 man, 3 season) almost exclusively for climbing trips. I have a Mountain Hardwear myself, but I really have been impressed with the ease of setup, durability, comfort level, wind resistance, and the sweet orange color. The price is right too at $249. 10. On a nice, warm summer day ... it's like little lines of ants walking up what seems to be and endless hill. Look for a favorable forecast to potentially avoid route finding problems (but be prepared if weather moves in quickly) ... and by all means ... wear your sunscreen! Be prepared and have a great time! Brianna
  11. Oh ... the suspense ....

  13. I am looking to pick up some retired climbing gear to decorate a sign I am making. I would prefer things like figure eights, adzes, pitons, screws, carabiners, hangers, rap rings ... and anything else that is metal and relatively flat. I'd like to pay as little as possible ... maybe even nothing ... anyone getting rid of any junk gear? Thanks! Brianna
  14. I didn't climb anything at Vantage on the way home from Spokane. In the parking lot at the Feathers ... the following discussion took place ... Matt: "This is gonna be sweet." Brianna: "Heck yes it is." . . (Insert dramatic pause ... ) . . Brianna: "Is the rope in the backseat?" Matt: "Why ... isn't it in the trunk?" Brianna: "No ... did you grab it off the bed?" Matt: "No ... I thought YOU did." (Insert frustrated mumbling and clanking while throwing gear back into the car.) Stupid rookies.
  15. Remind me to wash with bottled water on my next approach ... Leechy Goodness
  16. Anyone gone poking around there recently? I'm looking for some information on the avalanche potential for this weekend near Panorama Point? Slim to none? ... ridiculously high? ... and if so ... why? Help educate me. Thanks in advance! Brianna

    The Pope?

"Pope John Paul II is widely known and revered by millions the world over as the spiritual guide and shepherd of the Roman Catholic Church. What is less well known is his history as a trailblazing two-planker. The Man in White ripped the Polish pow from the time the papacy was just a gleam in his eye until his mature years as the toast of the Vatican. In his younger days, JP2 was known as a megahiker, an avid kayaker, and a camper nonpareil. He preached in the woods, ate watery pudding for sustenance while surfing the backcountry, and repeatedly lost his prayer book in the wild. When asked, "Is it befitting a cardinal to ski?" his reply was, "What is unbefitting a cardinal is to ski badly." A man after our collective hearts ... Pope on a Rope Tow
  19. We went to our friend's cabin down in Ashford for the weekend and made a break for MRNP on Saturday where we showshoed, postholed, and generally frolicked near Reflection Lake in all the lovely fresh and newly falling snow. How is it that my first "winter" experience this year came in April I ask you?
  20. Relatively irrelevant to the nature of the post ... but I thought I would chime in anyway. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew. The New Testament was originally written in Koine Greek. There are a few passages througout in Aramaic and Chaldean. YES!! I guess those ridiculously expensive private college bible history classes finally paid off! Brianna
  21. Wordem. Life's been so busy ... it's hard to anything but lurk this site from time to time. I'm completely game for some sort of open invite weekly/monthly all-cc.com gathering at a local crag ... most definitely! Brianna
  22. I am not sure if any of these are the one you are looking for: http://www.dealcatcher.com/buy-coupons Good Luck! Brianna
  23. One more note ... when I called and left a message to see if my midweek pass qualified for the free pass ... I actually got a call back from the General Manager, Dan Brewster, and he conveyed his apologies for the dismal year it was and thanked me personally for my business. Service like that is very rare. They'll have my business in the future for sure. B P.S. Big S unlimited, expanded, and midweek all qualify for the free pass next year.
  24. Pretty impressive if you ask me .... *********************** March 22, 2005 Dear Season Passholders, First and foremost, we want to thank you for the incredible support and patience you have shown throughout the past three months. No question, the "winter" of 04-05 has treated the Northwest very poorly and has affected many lives in unkind ways. I know that all of you purchased your pass with the anticipation of many days of great skiing or riding amidst the plentiful Northwest snowfalls to which we've all become accustomed. We want you to know that you, Big S Passholders, are our most valued customers. Many of you have held passes for many seasons and have intentions of holding passes for years to come. Others may have purchased for the first time and we are honored you selected The Summit this year to call your home mountain. It has always been, and most certainly remains, our goal to have the Big S Pass known as the best value in Northwest skiing and riding. With this in mind, we are very pleased to announce to you that we intend to extend the skiing and riding privileges for all 2004-05 Big S Passholders at no charge for the entire 05-06 season! As you can well imagine, this represents a serious financial commitment on our part, but given the nature of this past season, we feel strongly that to protect the trust and loyalty you have placed in us, it is the right thing to do. It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we look forward to welcoming you back next year to a very snowy season! We will be in touch directly with you in the coming weeks with more information and details regarding the extension. We are also pleased so many of you have taken advantage of using your pass privileges at our sister resorts, Northstar-at-Tahoe, and Sierra-at-Tahoe. Both resorts have loads of snow and are expecting great spring seasons. Our offer of complimentary skiing at both resorts with your Big S Pass is still valid for the remainder of the season so if you get the chance, we encourage you to get some turns in sometime in the next few weeks. Lastly, we still have not completely given up hope on snow this year! If we are lucky enough to get adequate snow in the next week or two, we may re-open for limited operations yet this year. It just isn't in our nature to give up! We know many of you would still love to get some more turns in this year, and if we are so lucky, we look forward to helping make that happen. Once again, I want to personally thank you for the huge amount of support you have all shown through this very difficult year. While this has certainly been the most difficult season I have experienced in my 25-year career at The Summit, I am very proud of the tremendous efforts our team has put forth to make the most out of a difficult situation. Thank you to so many for noticing and letting us know. Your positive feedback has been greatly appreciated by the entire Summit team. We look forward to seeing you next year. Sincerely, Dan Brewster General Manager www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/
  25. Minx - I am not sure where you are located, but an ex-boyfriend of mine was loking into flight instruction when we were dating and he settled on Wings Aloft in Seattle near Boeing Field. Supposedly, it is one of the leading schools in the Seattle area. Good luck! Brianna
