jeebus! Are you sure your ex isn't playing with your brake lines?
-
Yeah, but piglet's the ropegun. He's reach my suck but his strength to weight ratio is f'in huge!
-
My sister and I always had a few basic chores, but could always do more at minimum wage. Seemed to work out pretty well plus the occasional hazard fee for sketchy bathrooms.

Speak for youself! I'm fucking fantastic!

On the supportive side; kids that age can be little shits. My wife didn't actually talk to her mom for about 2 years , though she was reasonably involved and focused even then and has a great relationship with them now. She was just being 13. I know when I was growing up I had very few expectations placed on me and lots of freedom to do what I wanted to. The upside was I had very little to rebel against, but that could easily backfire if he's in with the wrong crowd. The one big requirement is that I was never allowed to do anything half assed, but at the same time, success was never judged in terms of outside standards. If I worked my ass off and honestly put in the best effort I could then my parents were happy and proud. If he's seriously into, or wanting to be into, music maybe offer to foot part of the bill for his starting a band, and offer him the garage as practice space? Probably what he needs most is support, space, and stiff kick in the ass to get him off the couch, and an actual goal to work towards. If he's active and actually working towards some goal in some activity regardless of what it is he'll probably be ok. Your right though, the whole apathy thing is bad news, that's scarier than just about anything. I know we all have an outdoors bent on here, but were also climbers and therefore on the slightly freaky end of things. If he's not into it, trying to push him is just going to make him bitter. He's got to learn to love whatever he's doing for his own reasons. By all means keep offering to take him out, on your trips, or offer to go with him on his .

No drytooling for me this week
-
Did you replace it? Otherwise it's seems like a bit of a stretch between the bolt just below the lip above the pin, and the preceeding one. Getting up onto the ledge where the piton is is a bit awkward, and I know I appreciated having the pin there.

I'm not a grad student anymore so bugger off

admit it...only b/c they have thorns. such a dirty girl
-
yes and they blame you for all of it. nooooo... I'm Gen-X, were the one's who know the world is royally screwed up, and we've been left holding the bag! After the you damn people who lived through 60's, 70's, and 80's ruined recreataional drugs, free love, and rampant financial abuse, are the really good past times are screwed up! Grrrrr..... And now the Gen-Y people are convinced that it's flowers and puppies and some else is going to fix it for them. I love being cynical and bitter

All of this chipper, optimistic Gen-Y people annoy me! Don't the realize the worlds screwed up!

New Year's resolution- dump the holiday weight

I find that sometimes having a partner in crime helps. You can support and motivate each other, and often learn new tips and tricks from the other person. For lifting, it's nice to have a spotter. And for running or biking, it's great to have someone to talk to and make the time go by like lightning. I don't know about anyone else but for me, guilt is powerfoul motivator? I never seem to have any issues working out hard once I get to the gym, but getting my ass there is a different story, and for me "I want to climb X, or want to lose X, or lift X" has never been sufficient. So having a group of people that I'm working out with/committed to makes all the difference in the world. One might do of they're hard core, but if they love lifting as much as I do it's a good way to drink a lot of beer. But 3 or 4 or 5 who are all mildly committed provides enough joking/guilt/cajoling to get my ass there. The other good one for me is making a financial commitment, even if it's just a token. Get the 6month climbing gym membership instead of paying by the trip, but then realize that you need to go at least 4 or 5 times a month to make it worthwhile. My first couple years of grad school I joined a a moderately competetive volleyball team that practiced twice a week. The combination of paying a few bucks, and knowing that there were 10 or 12 people who were depending on my being there made damn sure that I was there for every practice. Have done the same thing with martial arts classes which are great for focus, dynamic balance, flexibility and some good core strength stuff. Also be very clear about your goals: Do you want to loose weight, get into better condition, lower your body fat percentage? Specifics for each one will be different. All that said, the canuck is right, nothing burns calories faster than shivering! Where else can you get ever muscle in your body firing in opposition all at the same time -
Oh, so you were an expert Tricam Man from the beginning. Well, good for you. Be nice, he just has a thing for the pink one. speaking of which Tri-Cams Zero-Cams are also pretty damn cool I can't believe I forgot to !

The topout move simply sucks! Groveling in the dirt that's rather quickly getting kicked to the bottom of the crag. If your going to lead it I'd do it soon before the remaining two grass clumps completely dissapear! Thanks again Alex, for the very well placed bolt just below the lip! Hopefully we'll get out again next week! With a little creativity there are at least 5 seperate lines there so we could probably squeeze up to 10 people in?
-
Once again much muddy fun was had by all. Had a nice even 4 people and put up a rope on one of the first anchor left of the bolt lines. There's one more anchor a little further left that we'll have to put last time. And I'm feeling jazzed so a very minor chestbeat but I managed to lead the left-hand bolt line up the anchors, though I did take a 5' fall at the lip above the last bolt.

If you want to come straight out there should be room for 3 cars.
-
It just got pushed back to 3:30 anyway Anyone else want to join us at the Highway 900 crag? Parking for 3 cars, but the issaquah P&R is only 5 or 10 min. away.
-
Sure! Can anyone be there at the Issaquah P&R at 3:00 It's a little nicer before it gets dark and wet!
-
Anyone care to make the obvious reference to insufficient writing skills and the failure of our government to educate us?
-
Even obvious pot shots need to be taken by some one! This is spray after all, witty batter would just be wasted. Oh, and the suckirk comment qualifies as very sharp on your part. But it should really be capitalized. It is a proper noun after all
-
A little too close to home? Your not a Montana boy are you?
-
dude, way too much thought went into that. Typically geeks are attracted to anyone who doesn't have a restraining order against them.
-
So you are into that sort of thing, I should have known
