Will Domestic Cats in Wisconsin Become Fair Game?

mmm... tastes like chicken -
(sounds of bells and whistles blaring in the background...) Both the corporate aspect and the predominant liberal bias of individuals in the mainstream media significantly contribute to the content, tone, and nature of reporting. WE HAVE A WINNER! -kurt

I acknowledged that they are a business - so that means they are maximizing profit. Also it is one thing to have short reports on the case, but they have wall-to-wall coverage on this stuff with nothing new of substance to report. What a waste of time.

The media is very selective in what it chooses as "newsworthy", and the level of portraying "both sides" in a fair and accurate representation is dubious at best. Temper that with the fact that they are businesses worried about their bottom line, and that the American public has an interest level mired more in the details of Wacko-Jacko, the Lacy Peterson case, Paris Hilton's address book, and so on, rather than things that matter.

Liberty Ridge Mid-May- Route Questions!
KaskadskyjKozak replied to Fuggedaboudit's topic in Mount Rainier NP
A friend of mine climbed the route several years ago, and was surprised, when, above Thumb Rock, he was passed by a skiier on his way down... -
Did they use the word "repeal"? You can't repeal a supreme court decision; you can only repeal laws. Roe v. Wade could only be overturned by a Supreme Court decision and this is unlikely due to the court's respect for precedence.

When people blast the liberal media for their bias they are not referring to the op-ed pages, but the news articles. Op-Ed pages are expected to be "biased" - they express a view point, an analysis of the facts, not just a neutral presentation of the latter. The same is true for television shows. Shows like "Crossfire", "Hannity and Colmes", "The Factor", etc. are analysis and opinion, not straight news. The bias that is criticized is in the so called "neutral" news depicted on the nightly news hours. In short, Op-Ed and analysis are expected to be biased and based on opinion. The criticism is in portraying something as "unbiased", when it is far from it.

In China, there is a shortage of women, since sons are more valued, and the "one child law" results in more aborted daughters.

Just two "Pope"-sanctioned deeds listed (the ones so often cited by those wishing to espouse moral relativism): 60,000-100,000 - Sack of Jerusalem, First Crusade (1099) 15,000 (estimated) - Holy Inquisition (Europe). 1184 - 1800 Compare to a single communist purge: # 20,000,000 - Great Purge (Soviet Union, 1930s) (Estimates range from 3.5 to 60 million) # 250,000-20,000,000 - Cultural Revolution (China, 1966 - 1976 most estimates are around 1 to 2 million) Quod erat demonstrandum

The guy was 6 when Hitler was elected chancellor and grew up in a totalitarian state. I guarantee you'd have been forced into the Hitler youth had you been born in Germany in 1927, so STFU. It's easy to moralize having been born and raised in a free country. You know nothing about tyranny and oppression. He was 18 you dumb ass. Although the German army was conscripting 12 year olds in Berlin, it was not doing so everywhere. The man was barely in service before he deserted. As for there being "no German army", you need to learn some history. Over 5 million german soldiers surrendered to the allies who were under Joedel's (sp) command. The Germans fought to the end - street by street, building by building in Berlin. Tens of thousands of Allied soldiers died in the 4+ months of fighting that took place in Europe in 1945.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/04/19/pope.world.reacts/index.html "Rabbi Israel Singer, chairman of the World Jewish Congress, said: "We worked closely with Cardinal Ratzinger on many issues, including the Holy See's relationship with Israel and the church's condemnation of anti-Semitism. Cardinal Ratzinger provided the theological underpinning for many of the major advances in Jewish-Catholic relations in the past quarter century."

There's also many many times more people drinking alcohol responsibly, in moderation. BTW, I knew someone in college who went to a concert, got "fried", and killed a family while driving home. Anyway, I never made any comment about the frequency of the use of LSD, only that it's really, really dangerous. I'd say the same for PCP and heroin. I've read disturbing information about ecstasy too. It takes a lot less of these drugs to cause serious problems than say alcohol or pot.
-
I do. And I use the warnings in my evaluation of the risk of taking them. The claim that drug abuse only affects the user himself is false. Drug abuse affects the person's family members and society, and has economic impacts. Would it be possible to even make an album like the Piper at the Gates of Dawn without being on 'cid, or maybe I should say 'syd in this case. They rarely go around bragging about what they've done. It's just something they went through as a part of growing up, or simply living. Perceptions and assumptions will only cause you to have egg on your face. Suffice it to say that I will not be running for office any time soon.

The report came from the Associated Press.

The government does (FDA), but they're patented, and cost a few bucks a pill.

Where did you READ that bullshit. You've heard of the NIH? "Many LSD users experience flashbacks, recurrence of certain aspects of a person's experience, without the user having taken the drug again. A flashback occurs suddenly, often without warning, and may occur within a few days or more than a year after LSD use. Flashbacks usually occur in people who use hallucinogens chronically or have an underlying personality problem; however, otherwise healthy people who use LSD occasionally may also have flashbacks. Bad trips and flashbacks are only part of the risks of LSD use. LSD users may manifest relatively long-lasting psychoses, such as schizophrenia or severe depression. It is difficult to determine the extent and mechanism of the LSD involvement in these illnesses"
-
Cocaine users, drunks, and pot-smokers don't have random flashbacks, and are not generally susceptible to schizophrenia and other mental illnesses induced by the drug usage... of course I guess that's what makes LSD the "best drug" in the words of a cc-com'er.
