I think a less dramatic shot would be more beleivable. The before and after shots need to be very different to avoid suspicion. I would reccomend something along the lines of: OMG, I was just searching through BBC.com and heard that a number of Pakistani summits had been toppled in the recent earthquake. The only photo they had was this one of the trango towers. Does anyone have an older photo to compare to?

I think the pics are really nice for finding single pitch routes and identifying crag. For me at least, the line topos really shine on longer routes where route finding could be an issue. For example, I think doing orbit with just Viktor's new book and no other beta would be pretty difficult. But then again maybe I am not adventurous enough.

I would reccommend the only current guide book for leavenworth "Leavenworth Rock" by V. Kramar. Available in town at either sporting goods store I beleive. Also available at REI and other climbing shops on your drive down.

The S80 looks awesome! A little bigger and more expensive than the ultra compacts, but sounds like it is an excellent camera for the size.

The new olympus stylus 8 MP is water resistant, meaning it has rubber gaskets and stuff, but cant actually be used under water like the pentax. I beleive it has a view finder and gets good reviews. I also would no be too concerned about batteries as the technology has gotten way better in recent years. Another option I noticed the other day is that you can buy optically clear zip-lockesque bags where any camera can be made relatively waterproof. Supposedly image quality remains good.

The route in that thread was an uber-thin seam. What happens when a climb is impossible to protect without plugging good jams? I think that is one situation where a comment such as this is semi-valid. On a sport climb or infinitely protectable splitter IMO it is more of a mute point.
