Hmmm...let's see...a 8000m peak is most likely a 60 day trip... so with your planned $100 a day budget it will run you $6000 dollars then tack on your airfare of $1500 and you have a $7500 trip. Wow, dude, you just saved $500 dollars. Of course you spent a year of headaches to save that wad of cash. Mazur's services are scaleable from him just getting a permit and a couple sherpas for your group to being full on guided by a 8000m vet. I'd look into it but you don't sound like the type to listen to people with experience. Have fun and good luck. I think you are in over your head personally(if you are even for real). last post to this pointless thread

yeah, you are probably right, will. If not though... When you realize having a life for the near future other than dealing with logistics is better than dropping a little extra money then contact Dan Mazur... his website

Josh, Looking to fly fish or do that spin rod crap ? Someone could write entire books on your questions so I'll try to narrow it down with that 1st question to you. Also, feel free to drop me a PM after you get settled in CO. Don't mind showing a newbie fly fisherman some good backcountry lakes. I'll be in Idaho/WY doing the floating/fly fishing thing til near the end of August but am good after that.

Laramie is where people aspire to own a double wide and to win the local rodeo goat fucking competition. Ugly ass dump town, dude. Thrill, Close to Jhole? If you call a 5 1/2 hour drive close then sure. You sure you don't have it confused with Lander, WY or something ?

ML, 1. Barbless hooks... just smash the barb with good forceps. That helps a shitload with making it easier to get out the hook and is much easier on the fish too 2. get a good soft mesh net. not the k mart plastic mesh fish killing crap. 3. good sturdy forceps to get the deeper hooks out. 4. wet your hands before touching them if you are doing catch and release. Not doing so destroys a "protective slime" on them and they can die from this later on. 5. once in the net, try to just lightly grab the lower jaw (and not grab /handle the whole body of the fish) to move the head around and keep the mouth open. It's rare where you really need to manhandle a fish to get a hook out. try turning them upside down too. it disorients them and they sometime are more passive. 6. work on the hook and fish in the water as much as possible. the head should be the only thing occasionally out of the water and even then dunk'em back so they can breathe abit if it is taking you awhile. good luck and it does get easier with practice.

Bunch of morons... it's a climbing party or a party of climbers, of course .

Yeah, if you are a true novice at fishing then go with the spin rod, bubble and a fly. I pretty much don't like spin rods but they have their place...though not in my hand. If you have fun with it then try fly fishing. More challenging and thought provoking. I'd recommend a little bigger flies than JayB... like in the 12-14 range. Foam black beetles kind of kick ass nearly always and a general bead head nymph works. Some people carry lots of types of flies backcountry but in reality I use only about 3 patterns for fishing the backcountry in the summer. #14 Black Beettle, a black nymph with a silver beadhead that I custom tie#14, and a tan foam body caddis pattern that is custom as well#14. Caught allot of nice fish between those 3 types over the years, for sure. Use a 4lb tippet to tie your flies onto or Climax makes the best stuff at 3.8lb with a great color to it. I'd check on the regs for the area too. Allot of wilderness areas don't allow any types of bait fishing. Flies and lures only. Bait sucks and anyway. Good luck, dude and post a TR, for sure.

The 14 year old's father is probably thinking to himself "Atta boy, kiddo!" Damn gal is hot. When she gets out I'm going to change my birth cert. to 1990 and give her a call... Did she admit to it? Or is it a he said/ she said thing? Kind of wonder if it is a case of kids talking shit and some grown uo overhearing it and it blowing up from there. I don't know crap about this case.

Nope. And I don't really want to see it. I simply don't like the way he jams his views down people's throats or how he creates dramatic cinematic moments that he he tries to pass off as real journalism, ya know? I guess that makes me a close minded Mike Moore "bigot" since I have not seen his latest... but I can live with that.... And I sure don't want to put anymore money in his pocket than I already have. Later, gotta go play in the CO sun today.

Man, I can't stand watching stuff that is so frickin' biased. Drives me nuts. Mike Moore as much as the Bush administration .

I just play it safe and don't kill people.

If someone killed a member of my family then I would want a front row seat at the fuckers execution.Everyone is different... but that would be justice to me. Why should he get to live when he took the life of another and caused unmeasurable pain to other people who cared about the victim? Also, I don't see why SH is a bad example. If you are opposed to the death penalty then you should feel this guy has a right to live. That was my point. Your statement about being a martyr really has no bearing on what I was saying. I can't think of a more deserving pile of shit than that guy, ya know? As soon as that country gets better organized that guy's head will roll. It may make him a martyr to a small % but the vast majority will feel relief and satisfaction in his death and help that country heal.

Sadam Hussien will probably get the death penalty... Do you oppose that? Some people deserve to be executed.

Interesting topic. Not sure about insurance policies but I feel dumbasses who call for bogus rescues should be billed for sure. Those two guys who got helied off Rainier recently who were otherwise healthy except for the crap in their panties are great examples. I do,however, think it is pathetic and lame that people in need of a true rescue and in need of help get billed too. It's a policy that could and probably has cost lives. People might be too scared to take on 25k in debt for asking for help, wait too long... and then someone dies.

Dude, that guy sounds like a girl himself... It was like listening to a gal on a bad date...at first you are interested but then soon enough the words are going through one ear and out the other... "blah, blah, blah" said the girl. "oh,nice." said the guy "blah, blah, blah, blah" said the girl. "wow.really?" said the guy blah blah blah...

It would be interesting to know if more people are climbing the rte. now for 'the chestbeat factor' of doing a rte that others have died on this year? Or just a bad string of luck for climbers on one rte?

It's a shame all the iraqi fighters aren't that dumb...

It's a little strange and funny that 'pornolized' cc.com reads pretty much the same as 'regular' cc.com.

Did they steal other stuff too or just your climbing gear?

Thank you for speaking to me. I will remember this moment forever. I can't wait to tell my friends... they will think I'm cool finally...

I don't feel worthy to post on the same thread with you... Yes, truly, quite an acheivement and in just four hours too. Was the climb sponsored?

Start throwing the rocks back! Or just take a piss...They were probably hoping you'd take a leak so they could lick the salt out of it. I was hiking back to the S.F. of the Flathead River in Montana one time and had a salt crazed deer follow me for 6 miles. I came back to camp after some fishing to find him 3/4 of the way in my tent licking my sleeping bag . It was soaked with deer slobber. I picked up a rock and nailed the fucker hard. He didn't come back. Any bambi lovers who want to give me shit ...go screw yourself...I was 30+ miles from the nearest road and I'm not going to have a deer's antlers trash my tent there.
