  1. I'd have to say "Facing The Extreme : One Woman's Tale of True Courage, Death-Defying Survival and Her Quest For The Summit " by Ruth A. Kocour, Michael Hodgson . Fricken joke of a book. All the names are changed, except hers, so she can freely exagerate everything that happened on her lame ass guided climb of Denali and avoid libel lawsuits. I liked it when she said that it is a 250 mile flight from Talkeetna to the Kahiltna BC ... And makes herself sound like ubber climbing girl with everyone else being idiots compared to her. Yoy! "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story." Co-author Michael Hodgson
  2. mmm...more fine porn..... That avalanche pic is pretty wild. It's hard to get a sense of scale there...Did you get seriously blasted or did it keep it's distance?
  3. There was a thread a few days ago about the hurricane and it degenerated into political spray by the second post... I only clicked on this thread cuz it didn't say Bush, Kerry, Swift Boat, or Iraq but only to find more political rants. Ah, well.......... Have fun guys.
  4. Erden, Stefan may be very correct in that he did lawyer work for Mountain Madness. I did a google on him and it shows some dispatches he wrote on one of their trips. Might be a good avenue to explore for the reporter.
  5. Erden, You might want to try a new thread with a more specific headline that cc.com has lost one of its own and help is needed to find people that knew him better. Probably will get more eyes on it that way. Maybe a moderator could sticky it for you too. Good luck.

    Girl Repellent

You sound like a climbing buddy of mine about 8 years ago when he would send me pics of his 1 year old daughter "doing mantle moves" on his couch. He lived in Seattle the same time I did and we introduced her to climbing in the Vertical World gym at age 6. She is a natrual and styled some 5.6 rts there on her 1st day. She's 10 now and does great in the middle on 5.7 trad multi pitches. It's pretty wild and she loves it. Good luck and get them into it young.
  7. I don't get why people go all ape shit on other people for discussing the accident. I agree Snowbyrd's initial comments were lame but Chris S. himself,in his 1st post, even lists things that the actual climber felt were contributing factors and that we try to learn from it. Nowhere does Chris ask for only a constant stream of sunshine blown up his ass for his actions or only good thoughts for the climbers. However, it seems that some people believe saying anything other than just sunshine up his ass makes you an asshole... WTF? Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like Chris was only interested in sharing a lesson. I don't think being able to discuss it, to learn from it, pick it apart for future knowledge/ safety in the same thread is that out of line in this case. That said...Chris, you deserve some sunshine up your ass today. ,dude.
  8. uhhh, for those of us who don't watch star trek... what the hell are you talking about?

    Kayaking Survey

mountainbuzz.com is pretty good for that info though not specific to the PNW, for sure. Mostly CO yakers and rafters but people post from all over, for sure.

    Top Gun

Another pretty face on Everest...after Annabelle's success... who cares? That whole thing was pretty depressing in that the mtn has sunk to that level. I saw an interview w/ him on Letterman a month or two ago and he talked about climbing but said he had yet to do a peak that was an even an overnighter. I'm sure he'll style it with the right guide and sherpas just like 'belle.
  11. Throwing a coil of rope, waiting abit, then yelling "Rope!" a half second before it hits your victim in the head...
  12. As long as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer then it's all good. Not a new concept but Bush is a fucking wank and I can't believe that shit actually passed with elections coming up. If Kerry can't turn that into some grade A ammo against W then there is no hope...
  13. does that answer your question?
  14. Clueless, you're baaack! We've now got a problem though... cuz with that question we got some serious thread drift goin' on... WE CAN'T HAVE THAT! Perhaps a Mod could move this thread to the Newbie Forum now?
  15. the flick your bic comment was a joke to those who missed that. I could care less if they are there or not. They seem silly to me. Who really gives a crap if you climbed Mt. Pilfuckchuck?
  16. They are useful as hand warmers.... just flic your bic and get those hands nice and toasty. 99.9% of the registers for peaks are just trash that nobody will ever miss. That said ...they are fun to look at every now and then but I really can't remember the last one I bothered to open up.
  17. 60 days, clueless. i wish someone up there in wa on this board would give him a snugtop test. i'd be more friendly if i thought he was real for sure.
  18. 007, if you try and make a summit attempt after only 3 weeks you'll die of hape or hace. if you don't know this you really shouldn't be up there. anyone who agrees to climb w/ you on this time table is dangerously clueless too. all the 'trip doubters' have very valid points.
  19. can't resist troll...sparkling bait...must stop...MUUUSSSST....damn here it goes...i'm typing. shit... 007, dude, troll or not, your posts today were an endless source of amusement for me and some buds at work today. Mt. baker comparrison to Denali, Rainier for altitude training, home to home for Cho "Oye-Vey"in 30 days. Dude, priceless, creative stuff. Real plans or not... keep posting. R.M.- I'll take some action on the death thing if you are game...death by HAPE on day 15. He might have slipped into a coma a few days earlier but we gotta go with actual time of death.
  20. If you can handle a drive down to around Bend,OR then a overnighter on the Deschutes River would be my recommendation. Fun Class III, still has good flows now and doing an overnighter with killer scenery will get you addicted to river life. link to a deschutes outfitter have fun wherever you end up, for sure.
  21. Kiwi, what kind of trip are you looking for? Local day trips or extended week long trips? Big white water or mellow stuff? Mtn Mouse's suggestions are all damn fine ones for the extended type for sure.
  22. damn whippersnappers. go CHIPS! ponch rules. looks like a ho? who cares... as long as she puts out like a ho.
  23. yeah but the dress comes off... she's boobielicious just like her big sister...
