  1. She should be more careful. Her yard is probably violating all kinds of neighborhood ordinances that could be bumped up to felony hate crimes. Neither can one ignore her religious intolerance by suggesting a link between humans and monkeys. Perhaps we should stone her.
  2. I guess if nobody knows, then it is allowed. As far as I know MSH is the 'bilers volcano. I wonder if they get checked for climbing permits though. This could happen to any type of recreator of course. I sort fell into a bergschrund there once, and then took a few-hundred foot slide on bare ice head-first less than an hour later. It was thrilling. That which doesn't kill you, can be pretty awesome sometimes.
  3. ps. It's not the fall that sucks, it's the landing.
  4. Whether or not you agree, I think that this will in fact be described as a cool fall (perhaps not in those exact words) by the survivor/witnesses, later on if not presently. That's a story to tell the grandkids. That was not a malicious statement, but rather an expression of empathy, in my own way. It's the kind of thing that is commonly said to your buddy when he comes out alright. "Wow, that was pretty amazing, glad you're okay."
  5. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004345390_websthelens12.html Cool fall. Every time I have visited the crater rim I have wondered if anyone has actually done this. Good job for surviving!
  6. OMG is it just me or someone asking for that infamous 'glacial buttshot'?

  9. No problem. The Democrats are wearing the blue jerseys, and the Republicans the red. Now be good boys and girls, and cheer for the home team! baa But OMG are people going to have to know their candidates, or at least recognize their names now? Twill be too chaotically democratic! Given the way campaigns are run these days and the blind fanaticism demonstrated by partisan constituents, I move that we go one step further and strike down all government support for partisan politics under the establishment clause.

Ah god dammit, Rand claims another victim.

  12. Are we talking about a curable injury or a serious disease? There is only one way to feel okay about terminal, incurable disease, and that is to accept it as the death that was always going to come, one way or another. No amount of green band-aids will change that, but if one needs to burn some cash to prolong the denial, then by all means. That goes for all beings, of course.
  13. Where are all those backcountry babes? Apparently, sitting at home freaking out about their sons/husbands/bf's who went skiing that day, and then compulsively buying at rei.com in order to feel less abandoned.
  14. KEpUHnvfCzQ Everyone is trying to get to the bar. The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven. The band in Heaven plays my favorite song. They play it once again, they play it all night long. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. There is a party, everyone is there. Everyone will leave at exactly the same time. Its hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, and so much fun. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens. When this kiss is over it will start again. It will not be any different, it will be exactly the same. It's hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, could be so much fun.

  16. But what if she means: ultimate dream = being unsatisfied OMG that is so deep, it is like the core of the hardperson spirit Me and Washington: your wildest dreams of unsatisfaction can all come true in the same place
  17. Anyway I have been entirely too critical. I'm glad gymjones.com exists. I admire the man and appreciate the spirit he's sharing with us.
  18. Well there's thinking that you are not good enough, and then there's thinking that you can get better. One's training philosophy can be centered around either, but the psychological consequences of depending on the former are less healthy IMO. I realize that Mr. Twight is a big fan of the 'life or death epiphany' as a catalyst for self-development, and this may be entirely appropriate in the mountains (or whatever 'real-life' situation). But I think it's a bit contrived to try to generate that experience in a gym. One can certainly draw upon that kind of earned self-awareness in their training (as he seems to), but the part of it that can be taught to others in a gym setting is only a shadow on the wall.
  19. That's exactly right, you wouldn't hold your fire. Nobody would if they felt themselves in imminent danger in such a situation. I honestly don't understand why people are even considering this up for debate. Our warships will defend themselves if they feel themselves at risk. Those are their orders, not to mention they know very well the risks of not doing so. In fact, that they didn't feel the need to fire in defense would seem to indicate that there really was no true threat. So I ask again, why is this even up for discussion? It's a non-story. Or rather, the only real lesson of this story is that the administration is desperate for ways to make it seem justifiable that we militarily threaten Iran.
  20. Are you talking about the gym or the web site? I'm not totally sure what gymjones.com is for. It contains a lot more self-important attitude from you know who than it does information. GJ.com says "why are you here pussy, do you think you can be as core as me?" while CF.com says "hey try these exercises, they will kick your ass and you'll get stronger." Choose according to your preferred type of motivation, I guess. Looks like GJ banks on angsty self-hatred. This works sometimes but GJ goes a little over the top with it, don't you think?
  21. "Bush Doctrine" is of course a misnomer. He's just credited with popularizing these ideas in the current era. We've done it since WWII of course.
  22. Let's take Iran. If Iran launches an attack of any kind like our warlords are begging them to, their excuses will be every bit as (ill)legitimate as those spouted by the Reagan/Bushite Supreme Leaders in past and present years. They will say that they were preempting nuclear-backed US and Israeli aggression, which sounds a lot like our current accusations against countries that we decide to bully (except more factual and in agreement with cause and effect).
  23. Although none of us were there, I agree this smacks of blatant propaganda at its sloppiest and most pathetic. I still don't understand why we were expected to get all worked up about some guys speedboating a few km off their own coast.
  24. Oh yeah word to that. The fact that they walked off the mountain proves that they did not need a GPS to have a good and relatively safe time. Sorry if I was trying to sound pedantic.
  25. The only argument I see not to carry one here is weight/bulk, which is a non-argument considering my first post. Just because you carry a GPS doesn't mean you must forget how to use other devices. It happens, but 'many people are stupid' is not much of a real argument against the usefulness of something. I mean I think you're right that this happens, but not that it must happen. quotations misused here... I said "no rational reason" which has a completely different meaning/connotation. Oh RLY? I bet you had to walk uphill both ways before we had bikes too, huh? Forgive me for biking instead of walking, even though it may be a detriment to my walking skills.
