  1. Great reply Mark. Some great points here.
  2. I crag in the new Adjama and I like it. Check out the Aquila if you want a super padded harness that still climbs well or the Sitta for super lightweight performance. The Sitta is amazingly comfortable for weighing what it does. The FL 365 from Arcteryx is a fairly sweet harness also. Leg loops aren't adjustable but not a deal breaker for me.
  3. Talkeetna Air Taxi is worth every penny and one of the best in the entire state. Fly with them a few times and they will start giving you serious discounts on your flights. The owner is an actual climber so he can give you real beta instead of vague speculation. Cant say enough good things about them.
  4. Big recommendation for the Petzl Tikka, Tikka + or Tikka XP. Best headlamps out there
  5. Strobach bump. Anyone been in yet this year?
  6. 7 year bump! I wonder how this will look this week with the high pressure Arctic low?
  7. Soloed DKH Sunday. Okay coverage but mega icy so plan on sitting out awhile to allow things to soften. Saw at least one set of tracks from Saturday so it is getting skied.
  8. Nice work boys! Way to nail the conditions. Wish I could have joined you.
  9. Big thanks to all that came out and helped. Super cool to see such a strong response from the community. Hopefully we will see some more traffic out there this winter!

  11. 8 of us will be meeting at the TH at 7 am. The more the merrier PM for details
  12. Two from Portland and three from Seattle so far. Check your PMs
  13. This Sunday November 1 a crew of five is going to flag the approach into Strobach. The more people we have the better job we can do. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn the approach and get a GPS track for later this winter if you want one. If you're interested shoot me a PM for the details. Yes it is the day after Halloween but what better way to sweat the booze out and it is day light savings so you get one extra hour to sleep it off. If you are unfamiliar with Strobach search "Strobach" in the Trip Report engine or look at some of the photos in this post.
  14. Something is climbable in Strobach every year. I think the approach discourages some but with an alpine driving start from Portland or Seattle you can get in, get a few pitches, and back out and home in the same day. If we could get 4-6 people interested before the snow flies I would be interested in leading a work party to flag the approach and clean up some of the brush.
  15. The new Arcteryx boots are *amazing* If you can wait until this winter I think you'll be very impressed.
  16. Tomorrow Tuesday September 29 7 pm at the Portland Arcteryx store Portland climber Marcus Donaldson will present 'Thin is In: A Mixed Climbing Odyssey' Raffle Prizes from Arcteryx, NW Alpine, Cilogear and ClubSport Oregon Beverages supplied by Basecamp Brewing. More details: FaceBook
  17. Finally, a week at home visiting friends and catching up on medical/dental/vision appointments before shipping out on September 01 for SAUDI ARABIA and the NEXT GRAND ADVENTURE!!!1 I guess at that point we'll have to lock this thread and start a new one for Sobo Updates from Saudi... Where at? Pack a harness; lots of unclimbed desert towers here. I'm in Riyadh ~3 months a year; let's connect.
  18. Nobody said it was special. What is special is getting the climbing community together and raising money for a non profit organization focused on improving climbing access. The more splintered the community the harder it is to organize and represent our interests.
  19. BUMP. A full keg of IPA needs your help. 7 pm
  20. Nose in a Day + Free Beer Wednesday
