A speeding ticket for 32 in a 25? Give me a break. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get a ticket for doing less than 10 mph over the speed limit. There wasn't a soul on the road but me -- vehicle, bicycle or pedestrian -- meanwhile, a block away, I literally see a high school kid almost mow down an old lady crossing the street. Any cops around? Of course not. I think Vernal Kent in The Usual Suspects said it best: "Fucking cops." Maybe he had a quota to make, doing his part to keep the Redmond city coffers full. Too bad for him he failed to notice that my license, registration and insurance all have 3 different addresses (none of them current) and my tags are 3 months expired.

The numbers I remember (don't have a source, sorry, was in the news a few days ago) were that China currently makes up 9% of global oil consumption, but 37% of last year's growth in consumption. It didn't give any hard numbers. If the growth continues increasing at similar rates, they could put a hefty increase on demand. And if i recall correctly, there has only been one new oil field discovery in the last 25 years. It's time to crank up the nuclear plants to produce hydrogen and get off oil, IMO.
