    STP?

Dougie wins! Of the members of the seminal grunge-rock band "Stone Temple Pilots", whom I rode on Saturday, Scott Weiland was the slowest. In fact, when I threw the saddle over his back, he merely whimpered and collapsed on the ground. I don't know if he could have made it past the start gate with my considerable bulk added to the lightweight saddle. Dean DeLeo did all right. He made it about 100 yards before collapsing in a heap. I didn't expect much from a guitarist, and Dean didn't disappoint. The younger of the DeLeo brothers, Robert, did pretty well. I think we went about a mile before he bucked me off, protesting the load. I was a bit confused when I couldn't find anywhere to put my water bottle. Can't win them all, I guess. As is the case when work needs to be done, the drummer was nowhere to be found (what was his name again?). Oh well. Three out of four is good enough for one day.

  3. It should be noted that you need two prussiks (one for each strand of rope your abseiling), otherwise you end up being a victim of similiar fate as "AlpinFox rappelling f-up victim #1". Good stuff here Not to be contrary, but you can tie one prussik around both ropes. The prussik will hold better on two strands of rope than it will on one.

Who else is riding? I'm one-daying it. Bib #2688
  5. I've beat the hell out of mine, approaches, climbing to 5.7, talus, etc, and they are holding out well. The flap at the toe is starting to come loose.
  6. Red down to black Aliens are great for smaller placements. The larger ones are "eh.." The floppiness of the cable is nice, so is the tube trigger thingy. The wires are shorter and more difficult to get bungled.
  7. CBS, that's about the dumbest thing I've ever seen you post. What's dumb about it? It's a slight exaggeration. There were 25 murders last year. That's every other week. The majority of them were in the big city. The majority of assaults occur when the bars let out at 2 am. If you head home before 2 am you chances of becoming a victim of random violence are much less. A slight exaggeration? There are a few more factors at work than 2 am and Pioneer Square.
  8. Finding a decent artist isn't too hard these days. Go to an established shop that has been around for a while. Ask to see the artist's portfolio. If they don't have one, don't get a tattoo from them. They either suck, or are brand new. If you like what you see in the portfolio, go for it. Checking for cleanliness is pretty easy. Ask if they have an autoclave on sight. If they don't, don't get a tattoo there. It doesn't make them unsanitary, but it makes it more difficult for them to sterilize their equipment, and they will be more likely to use less than sterile needles. Also spend some time chatting with the artist. This person will be leaving permanent marks on your body. You don't want to look at your tattoo and be reminded of the asshole who put it there.

  10. In all fairness, he should give it to me instead.

GI Joe's has a good selection.
  13. Rich is a badass, and reasonably priced since his shop hasn't been featured in any big magazines.
  14. I wear size 15 street shoes and a 12.5 La Sportiva. Have him check out some Big Cliffs or Mythos. THey might be a little uncomfortable at first, but they stretch nicely. Barring that, custome shoes my be in order. The Cobbler & Cordwainer
  15. Tattoo artists tend to be better at one thing or another. i.e. color, or portrait work. What are you looking for?

  21. CJ - did you actually try, or did you see the 1% requirement and give up without trying? I'm sure you could have enlisted help collecting signatures from other disgruntled members.
  22. Jeff Renner does a class every year, probably through the Mountaineers.
