I keep asking myself that. I think this may be my last year with a structured course.
I used to have a lot of fun in large groups of people. Now my best trips are with a partner or two.
It's not reserving, It's warning. If I get to the cliff and all the routes are taken, I will find somewhere else to go.
Whatever. it will be raining. We will still be out there.
This really doesn't encourage anyone to notify the climbing public. Would you rather know that a bunch of n00bs will be infecting a crag, or would you rather show up with your kids to find it overrun?
I would say yes. I don't believe in much these days, but meeting or seeing the Pope speak is something I would do. People like the Dalai Llama, the Pope, Desmond Tutu, etc... aren't just religious figures. These guys are significant world leaders.
The Boealps basic class will be in the Icicle Creek area this weekend. Planned destinations are:
Playground Point (upper and lower)
Madsen's Dome
Clamshell Cave
Mountaineers Dome
Arnica Glenn
Barney's Rubble
I'm not looking for spray, I just wanted to warn you that we will be out there getting in your way.
Both classes are in full swing. You will have to wait until next january to sign up for Boealps or the Mountaineers.
If you wanted to get some instruction before that, check out the 3-5 day program with Alpine Ascents International or a similar program from (gasp!) RMI.
Thanks!
I've been looking for a replacement for my crag pack. it's been hauled, dropped, scraped, shoved, and torn. There isn't enough left to repair. I might try making one of these Wally packs.
Check out Private Idaho. Argus and I cleaned Senior Citizens in Space (5.8), Wet Dream (5.9), and the first pitch of Magic Fern (5.9). Battered Snadwich (5.9) looked pretty clean too.
