  1. There's a product out there that has some cable in it. I know about the out-of sight thing, trying to get an idea as to whether it's something that would work for TH safe storage. Sure, a hacksaw will cut metal, I know that. I'm thinking that aircraft cable would be tough for it though, the only thing that works easily in my experience is a pair of cable cutters, and I'm thinking car prowlers may not carry these. ??
  2. I'm looking at some options for trailhead security. Wondering if any of the car prowlers out there can tell me if they carry anything that will easily cut or chew through 1/8" steel aircraft cable. I've tried to gnaw through it with a sharp pair of diagonal cutters before and seem to recall it took a while. Never tried a hack saw though. Thieves, any input here would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I don't know a lot of women who respond well to being told how "fuckin' lameass lazy" they are. You and I both know that no one who knows what they are doing is going to get into a sitch their partner/GF can't handle...unless THEY don't know what they are doing. Don't be silly!
  4. I gotta agree with you here. I've come to the conclusion that trying to force my hobbies on others, whether a girlfriend or just a buddy, never seems to work. The problem is the things that I generally seem to fall for in girls don't often coincide with climbing interests. I guess I like typical 'city girls' or something. I guess I've sort of accepted that having seperate interests isn't that bad. yea. and ive come to the conclusion that i lose girlfriends when i start complaining bout how fuckin lameass lazy they are and to hurry the fuck up cuz speed is safety and to stop bitching bout the exposure. i dont mix pleasures anymore. i dont even take women fishing wit me. i just tell them girls 'its called testosterone. deal with it and shut the fuck up.' Lummox, you really ought to consider dating men. I'm not being snarky here, it's just that you apparently don't understand the female psyche. Seen it in male climbers before.

Well, that's what I'dda thought until you got all weird last night with your dangling your so-called "connections" AND what looked like a PROSPECTUS (this used to be a campout!) for your Rope-up thingy. I was more than willing to be reasonable, but that rage, man, you've got to get a grip! You came at me several times, cut me off, and stomped off. You future as a big-time event manager is off to a shaky start.

So, "I'd rather you didn't come to Ropeup" means.....???

WOW. DEJA VU. That sounds EXACTLY like this thing I went to last weekend, except I think they call it Outdoor Retailer or something. TOTAL NUTTY.

Well! Way not not let get the facts in your way!
  9. Yes, prime numbers are not too bad. Can't decide if I like 23 or 29 the best.

Ohnononono my Candadian ami, he asked me in person last night at the Pub Club. It just prompted me to take my off for a minute.

It's a slow news day here today. It's the least I could do. Heck I heard someone got a chair thrown at them over this event....
  12. And he declined? Really?

I would just like to state in a public forum that the organizer of this year's Rope-up event (festival?) in Leavenworth told me last night that he would "prefer that I not attend." This was shortly after he asked that we keep PM discussions private, which I would have, but then he did this. Have fun, now I really hope no one shows up. Next year it would be great if someone else organized it. I think it's an embarassment to have this site represented in that way.
  14. Too bad he's not big enough to get invited to provide beer for the "Rope Up Festival of Sponsorship." Nice work TG, that is all very cool. Drinking beer with the Gub and all that.
  15. As an admitted gearhead, I have a number of clothing options. I still seem to reach for my Driclime even though it is an ugly color and in fact a neither cute nor flattering piece IMO. To that end, I never wear it in town, too fugly. As far as its functionality, weight, all that, well it's been on a lot of trips and stuff and never let me down. If that choice doesn't work for everyone...
  16. Gearhead: I don't know whay I love my DriClimb so much....but I can tell you that it weighs 6 ounces less than my softshell and is way more comfortable. if it's going to be a little wet I take the softshell though.
  17. My experience with both field testing the FN and "clog testing" (I used some pretty chunky water to try and clog them all) provided different results. Thing's big and clunky, but it works pretty good. As far as the other thing, I had just received the info on the MIOX a few days prior to leaving, and no, I had't gotten a complete understanding of how it worked yet. So, now I know that it brews that stuff up, and I didn't before.
  18. Really? I recall YOU PMing me about the show and since you seemed so knowledgeable on the new water thingy, I thought you might be able to direct me into some good sources for water data. I mean you must know something about it, being so knowledgeable and all that. Me, I'm just doing research because I know nothing on the subject. Alas, you tried to direct me right back to one of the manufacturers...perhaps not the best place to get independant research on waterborne pathogens. As for you, Kurt, next time your truck is not working, I'd consider taking Metro or driving the chip truck around town.

So "going fucking ape shit" and "raging on you" is going to make this person a safer and more responsible driver? How, pray tell?
  20. What in particular really rocked yer dome there? I thought they used some nice fabrics in sort of unimaginitive ways, like the Bora pack with heavy new fabric and the lightweight packs made of Polyant, but with the same old molded back panel. Tell me what I missed there, because I was prepared to be dazzled.
  21. Iodine won't getcher Crypto though. Neither will bleach.

Actually, I don't bitch about it. It's an annoying part of life, kind of like you.
  23. Cracked, back when you were a wee one, or maybe even before that, the water in the mountains was considered safe to drink. Nowadays we have to worry about Giardia and its buddy Cryptosporidium in these parts. They are both cysts, pretty bomber little things that will mess with your lower GI if they get in there. You want to take your chances, well that's your choice, but you might want to do some reading on the subject so you can make an informed choice..
