Someone out there must have a copy of the Guide to Leavenworth rock-climbing areas by Fred W Beckey. Please share a little about it. Is it dated... cool as a collector? Or a worthwhile guide book as a supplement?

Do! Or do not. There is no "try." hmm... climb with my good friends, hit the Oktoberfest, relax in hot tub with some good micro at friend's cabin or... meet you... I'll try.
-
I'll be climbing in the area this weekend with some friends... if’n I can kick this cold. I’ll try and stop by for some intro’s.
-
I'd be happy to... how about over a brew sometime?

Hey Dan, I don’t what you’re using now, but couldn't you get some UHF/VHF radios and work with your county Sheriff to get licenced? In areas you can't hit repeaters you can have a vehicle radio set up to operate as a repeater. We were able to cover most of our area of response fairly well. Maybe you could work out a deal with the County Sheriff's Dept. where they own and maintain the radios under their existing licence but you get to keep and use them as long as you’re on the rescue team. The team I was on was fortunate enough to work closely with a county EMS district and we were able to use their old radios. We had all the SAR, Fire, EMS, and Sheriff channels under their licence. When we had a call where the subject was using FRS or 9 we had a group of small radios we could grab and carry - or someone at the MCP would relay. Hope this helps... or maybe you're already on this kind of comm. system and I'm just blowing air...

I think they both leave a lot to be desired. But I do think Biden is the lesser of two weevils.

How eloquently put tvass. Obviously you can't sit down with all the players. That's my point. If you're looking for advice in my post, then look at the people close to the candidates like I said. The people they do business with. I'm not saying either VP candidate is worse than the other. I’m saying they’re both less than desirable. I see your point with some of your post but it kind of takes away from your points when you correspond like an asshole.

She should have used her lifelines...

Biden came across like a used car salesmen to me. It looked like a lot of bad acting promising change. We hear that every election. Don’t promise me change without a plan and don’t make up a plan without advise from your cabinet. I don’t want to hear about a plan for ending a war before they sit down with all the players. Palin did better than expected, but that doesn’t mean anything when everyone expected a train wreck. Both of these candidates leave a lot to be desired. I want to see a debate between the candidates entire cabinet potentials. That's where your policies and decisions are mostly made. The President and VP are just targets for rotten vegetables when shit goes bad... Take a look at their friends... that’s who they will likely pull into their folds to build their cabinet. So who’s got the most corrupt pack of friends?

I see what you mean... it's all about the money with that guy.

to the bitter end...

they look easy enough to make. Just cruise down to a local fab shop with some examples and I bet you can have them made by the dozen, maybe even cheaper than the originals.

I'll ask him... "The mountains are calling and I must go."

I'm sorry for the “blow” comment OW, but c'mon man... face value? You added your own views to my comments, then jabbed at me, hence my attitude adjusted. My point was that not only do forums represent a small fraction of the climbing populous, but also not all forum members even post to the TR's. I should have been more clear to that point I guess. There was no intended implication of pride in my post. You put that there. I simply don't want to share my climbing experiences on the internet.
-
I trust you reciprocate and don't read TR's and use their beta either, or do you just use what the site offers without contributing? If this forum represents so few climbers, surely telling stories from your outings will have little impact on your privacy in the Cascades. I think you should post some trip reports, people who use the site consistently declare TR's the best thing we do, and you could help make this a better website. I’m sorry, I must have missed that part of the RULES. What are you, the undercover TR cop? Truth be told I have offered up descriptions of routes and climbs I’ve done to those inquiring. I have contributed to the forum in many ways, but if I’m going to be judged for it then you can blow!

I’m no pollster, but I have to say that forums like this represent a very small fraction of the climbers that are out there. The number of climbers seen by any given climber from this forum can’t really be considered. Of all the climbers I know, I am the only one that is a member of this site and I don’t post TR’s. Second to climbing registers I don’t see how you could track our numbers. Furthermore, I don’t really see why it matters. I mean second to placing bolts we have the least impact on the environment than most other outdoor enthusiasts. Personally, I enjoy climbing most when I don’t see anyone else. The North Cascades are like an unknown jewel and the least amount of people that know about it the better. Hey, no one ever said I played well with others...

This election has forced me into a complete lack of trust in everyone including all media. Only thing I can trust are my senses... My senses are telling me that MacDaddy is running with someone who may or may not have starred in a prime time drama series and “the other guy” projects an arrogance beyond anything I’ve seen since I was the king of shit. Bring out the charts Ross! Let’s see your plan. Time to dull the senses

makes my heads hurt

Why would you want to sharpen molded plastic? Self arrest/ninja weapons weren't you listening? I'm kidding.
-
Ramer + Claw = pretty much worthless on anything approaching firm Could sharpen them into a pretty gnarly pair of self arrest/ninja weapons...

For anyone concerned... passed a large group that was probably the Tacoma mounties on Sunday. They were near the far end of Riverview, where no one else was...bothering no one. Excellent choice by their leaders. Prolly cuz they've been reading all this hate mail...

Exactly what he said.

Or we just want to keep our climbing experiences private.
