MH is sized kinda small though. I was trying on larges of other brands until I hit Mountain Hardwear. Had to go XL to make sure my arms were covered.

just make sure that you get it from the web site, or you will pay retail. But, hey, that's what is nice that there is a patagucci outlet in PDX... I called to make sure they had one in stock and asked about the sale price. They confirmed what you said. I tried on the Green thing and it was a bit more than I was looking for. Awesome deal, but I wanted something lighter and more compressable... I ended up heading up a few blocks to REI to see what they had since I was in town. I picked up the Mountain Hardwear Compressor for 20% off. It doesn't look like something I'd want to go sliding across a granite face in, but at least I can take it back if I find a better deal. REI's saving grace... Thanks everyone!

think I'll head to Patagonia and try that green thing on...
  6. I need some ideas on reasonably priced synthetic insulated puffy's out there that are of course light and compact-able... what are you all wearing? Oh yeah, warm would be good too.
  7. A higher power?
  8. nice troll. what about all of Rush's instrumentals where Geddy does not sing? I said the other two guys were pretty good. But not good enough to overcome Geddy Lee's singing. He sings like a drunk munchkin on crack. You said it... and I think it's about time the Stones retire to a home.

  13. For all you geology geeks out there. Mt. Stuart Folio
  14. I get it. I guess I just haven't had an experience (yet) where I couldn't adjust my system to work from the main point. Thx.
  15. Good question... why didn't you?
  16. I have this on VHS somewhere! Nothing like a mixture of racism mixed with some climbing... I vote for A Clockwork Orange... but I'm just a dirty little droog.
  17. ok? yes, but why not use the power point?
  18. I have climbing guides for sale if anyone's interested...
  19. Do you have contact information for them. I could never find it. I'm in need of some frontpoints for Rambo #1's. Was wondering if I could machine a #3 to fit? Any ideas? Have a number for these folks? "US Outdoor in Portland usually has a lot of parts." ZZ I forgot! This distributor closed its doors, didn't they? linky You may be able to contact them through the listed address though: Grivel North America 1435, South State Street SLC - UTAH 84115 USA When they were still in operation they sent me some parts to my G12's - no charge. Mike
  20. Make contact with Grivel. They will give you replacement parts.
  21. Now that's what I'm talking about! Thanks John!
  22. Besides Kelsey's Climbing and Hiking Wind River Mountains, are there any other recommendations?
  23. Not quite so colorful but... I went BC skiing with a friend that volunteered on a rescue team back in '92. He ended up getting a call that night and I drove him to the mission. BC Skier was exhausted up on St. Helens and couldn't get down on her own. I ended up assisting on the mission and that got me hooked. I climbed Hood that winter with him for my first climb, joined the rescue team shortly thereafter and have been hooked ever since.
  24. Hone your map and compass skills and you wont need the GPS unit. Plan your route and retreats in advance. Mark the azimuths and distances on the map for reference. Practice, practice, practice. Buy a good altimeter and make some wands. I stick reflective tape around the tops of my wands above some bright colored duct tape (survey ribbon can deteriorate in high winds). The biggest problem with wands? They get left behind, so throw them in the rig and decide at the TH. Listen to the weather station and check in with the Avy and Mountain Weather page to try and identify weather trends. Learn to read the weather from the sky, barometer, and temp trends.
