  1. ukclimbing.com made it as a Friday nighter: Friday Night Movie feels good
  2. Steve Swenson is working on a book, which will include the history and insight to this conflict. It might seem pointless to us here (in the good old USA), but we can't project our way of thinking onto everyone. It's a very complex socio-political issue, with huge historical background. I think at least trying to understand some of the issues at hand would be a good start for the State Department, and for us here. The avalanche is a great tragedy- imagine what the media would be doing, if 130 people died in such incident, but went virtually unnoticed by US main stream media.
  3. good one Jon! Seems that not too long ago same logic was used in selling $450K homes in Las Vegas. Well, you can pick the same house for under 100K now. Grouse is near Vancouver, Whistler has a whole tourist infrastructure. Squamish is a toilet pit stop between the two. The same logic was regarding Kicking Horse, which is hardly able to pay the bills at the moment.
  4. Congratulations to boh of you! Just a side note: since you rapped the technical rating should include A0 to describe the technical difficulties of the route.
  5. I am selling late 2009 MacBook Pro 15" (4,1 version) laptop. It has 2.4 Ghz Core2Duo processor, 500 GB 5400rpm HDD, OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 4GB RAM (upgradable to 6GB). It also has PCI slot, with eSATA card (Sonnet SATA Pro 34- $150 value), so you can use eSATA external drives. It has one blemish on outside (when my friends son decided to play with his toy on it. Mostly it was used as a desktop, so the screen and keyboard has minimal use. It will be cleaned up and will have clean re-install and will include the following software: Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP6) student version (with updates to 6.0.6, Motion 4, Compressor 3, Livetype and s Sound) Final Cut Pro X (10.0.3) Motion 5 (Latest) Compressor 4 (latest) Toast 9 Adobe Lightroom 2 The software alone would cost you way over 1K on eBay I will also toss in PCI34 CF card reader ($45 value) Please contact me crazypolishbob at gmail or call 360 927 four861 PS- I need to switch to Avid and hence this computer is not what I will need for my next project.
  6. Don, I must disagree- more is not necessary better. There are already opportunities both in Whistler and above Vancouver for gondola rides, lift supported skiing and mountain biking. The impact of this venture is going to be painful for everyone and far reaching. Think about the constant helicopter noise for one. Habrich and Pilot already have access, the gate has been open and you can drive in with 4x4, also I made that hike 2 times and it is not that bad. I think this project is a horrible idea over all. The worst (I predict) are going to be consequences, when it goes tits up- who is going to clean all the rusting shit up? I mean where do they get the numbers? 500 000 riders/a year? Dream on (particularly $30/ride). For that price I predict more like 50 000.
  7. Kind of funny argument about skinny fingers. Remember, he has half of normal reach!
  8. BTW, it would be interesting to see if anyone could name all the routes (at least areas where they are) in this video? Let the contest begin! (Naming Canadian Rockies or Red Rocks doesn't count- have to be area specific).
  9. Thanks for kind words, this vid would not be possible without help of a lot of people. It's kind of incredible, that he actually sent the route when I was filming. I am glad you guys liked it.

  11. http://www.climbing.com/news/hotflashes/gasherbrum_i_climbed_in_winter/ There are only 3 8000m peaks left.
  12. My wife is trying to sell iPod Touch 32 GB. Works fine, she just bought an iPhone, so the Ipod is redundant. $150 obo (no low balling please). I live in Bellingham.
  13. Oh, how I missed this place! 14 pages of useless drivel.
  14. Started riding at Whistler last summer. Yes, it is a high risk activity, but a lot of accidents are due to stupidity and not developing proper technique. I usually ride at about 75% and rode 36 days without any fractures.
  15. In general life is dangerous, particularly food: "But more than 910,000 Americans still die of heart disease annually, according to the American Heart Association. And more than 70 million Americans live every day with some form of heart disease, which can include high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, angina (chest pain), heart attack and congenital heart defects." Percentage wise people are more likely to die from heart attack, stroke or diabetic complications, then all the risky activities combined.

  17. getting back to the point- the poster boy for republithugs "tough on crime" turns out to be just another bigot and utter douchebag.
  18. well, unlike you, i don't listen to fox "news". it's not hard to find some simple facts: fact fact fact
  19. at least i had parents, i am sure your daddy liked you very much- in a tool shed. unlike you, i don't find fucking children in real life amusing, nor I try to excuse the offenders, which is obvious you are doing in this post.
