  8. FREE!!!!!! Transceiver Clinic. Next Saturday, December 20th. Meet at the Fifth Season at 9am. Dress warm as the clinic will be up at Bunny Flat. Bring your shovel, probe and transceiver, or use one of our demo’s. See you there! For those who came to our last clinic, we will work on deeper burials and/or multiple burials at the next clinic. Here is a solution for newbie's not knowing how to use transcievers. mt. Shasta
  9. yeah, The road is passable, but a high clearance vehicle is needed. Shit, after the last days snow, maybe it isn't passable anymore? Went in on snowshoes, should've skiied, as no climbing of any sort was to be had. I had the trail marked in on my GPS, so easy to follow, plus I've been that way many a time before. But the neon pink tree markers are still up from last season, so relatively easy to follow. Good experience breaking a new tent in though. lets get after it as soon as the avy lessens, and the weather brightens.
  10. Very well said. Reading should provide insight, into separate perceptions from our own. So the reflection in the pond may be someone elses that we are seeing. However this may help you realize a better form of yourself.
  11. Man, Just got home, foot of light freshies today. Was epic. Still got a shit eatin grin on my face
  12. just returned from the east side of the sisters. Drove to the pole creek trailhead yesterday morning. After mile 9 the snow was about a foot deep. Made it to the trailhead at mile 13. Snowshoed into chamber lakes in a whiteout. A foot of fresh made the work tedious. Set up camp. Awoke this morning to the same blizzard ripping around, with really high winds. Decided to forgo anything farther, and packed out with all the shit wet. carrying about 60-70 pound pack . But hey, the trail is now packed, for the next day or so, before the whiteout covers it again . WOuldn't be suprised to see highway 20 flood. It was really close on the way home. Never seen that river like that before, waves were HUGE.
  13. It seems to me that any winter climbing or travel will always be more adventurous, require more skill, strenghth, and commitment than the other seasons of the year. However that is what makes it so rewarding and so frustrating.
  14. has anyone been near the eagle cap recently?? What are the conditions??
  15. I have spent lot of time traveling all over wyoming. The problem in laramie is the WIND. It is cold in the winter, but the wind is always ripping. It is a beautiful place to live though, and has a very western feel to it. Very remote, and different lifestyle than anywhere else in the u.s. (beside montana). Great climbing, adn very undeveloped. DON"T LIVE IN DRIGGS/ IDAHO FALLS
  16. road conditions??

  18. yeah, I bet you are standing with your knees locked for hours on end while on the wall. Better start moving, sounds like you need some blood to your brain. Compartment syndrom here we come I feel stupider for having read and followed this thread.
  19. Suspension trauma is similar to a "red out" in aviation. SO a black out is where you are pulling positive G's and climbing, so the blood rushed to your head and you pass out. A red out occurs during negative g maneuvers, where all the blood rushes out fo your head and into your lower extremities. My point beign it is very hard to loose conciousness because the amount of gravitational force that needs to be present is around 7 times that of normal for a red out. Same thing goes for when you are standing up! Why don't you pass out if you stand up for a lot of hours? 1 gravitational force will not cause the body or brain to loose blood(as long as your are right side up). I've always wanted to get down on a plane pulling negative g's.
  20. I don't have time to scroll down and read 36 fuckin' pages, I got a trip to get ready for
