  1. Weather is supposed to look pretty good as long as the freezing levels don't climb too high. Anything from Hood to Shasta. Pm me.
  2. Let me know if your looking for a partner for it. How many days are you looking at? weekend siege? I'm looking at giving Thielsen a shot when all the new snow settles. PM me if your interested.
  3. Sounds good, anytime. Just let me know if you can handle a split rider. I know that mountain pretty good. I heard Bailey Cat is shut down this year? true?
  4. I ride a Burton Split with PMB's and do fine. I've never ridden hard plates because I don't want to hike in with rigid boots. I'm going to switch to lightweight, metal strap bindings to add rigidity and will give feedback. The one thing I'm learning from this post is that I'm not alone with split boarding questions/concerns. Soft boots are the best to ride all conditions in but blow to hike any distance in.
  5. Ice still looks a bit thin in my opinion. The NE slot still requires some rockclimbing to gain the upper ice. The east face is looking real good, just a bit thin down lower. The upper part of the mountain, both N and Middle looks sick.
  6. No viable partner so decided to solo the North ridge and hopefully get some decent turns on the Hayden. Started hiking at 5am, a skiff of powder on Pole Creek trail. Patchy in spots, couldn't start skinning until above the Chambers Lakes climbers turn off. Skinned up the Hayden, on wind blown powder, other aspects very icy. Met LetsRoll and chatted with him a bit. Wind really started to pick up, was rocking the IPOD so didn't hear the blasts until they almost knocked me over. Ditched the boards at the top of the Hayden. Traversed to the upper saddle, crampons were essential due the hard rime all over the ridge. Staying on the ridge meant dealing with 40-50 mph gusts blasting ice in your face so I traversed right onto steeper ground. Basically just shot up this ice gully(blue ice in spots) and self belayed when the train sound started. Got within a couple hundred feet of the summit when the big gusts started. Got blown off my feet twice waiting for gaps in wind blasts. Spindrift coming off the summit was incredible, thought i was hallucinating. Downclimbing was interesting, no second tool and very icy. Strapped on the split board and got a killer powder run down skiers left side of the Hayden. Most of the crevasses were filled in, stay out of the middle of the glacier. Rode down to tree line, could of kept riding but too early for core shots in the split board. Very sunny, windy cold day. Got back to the car at 2. Easy access, powder turns.
  7. Couple of inches in the shady spots but no problem with a 4 by 4 and some clearance. Haven't been up the trail though so i have no idea what lies ahead. I got your pm, thanks for the invite, never hesitate to ask. I know there's not that much snow up in them mountains yet, maybe more ice but it's really hard to tell.
  8. Hey Nick, call me on these "Sunday solo's". I've been all over out in the 'Supes and would love to go play around. Delerium Tremens is the best route out there.
  9. Excellent photo Shred, thought that was George W. for a second. Really good to see you guys out there this weekend. I finally got to meet the legendary TG, did you guys enjoy Carla the Stripper/Lusty Lady? I saw a bunch of people on it from Brogan Spire and wondered if it was you all. RBW, I'll take you up on that 1st round anytime your in the area. Unless GaperTimmy has a really good reason, everyone should PM him nasty messages.
  10. You can chant peace and love all you want but there is no compromise to bolting artificial holds on rock. I fully agree that a bolt/chop war is a lose-lose situation, with the resource suffering the consequence. But trying to understand a group of climbers who bolt holds onto rock is a waste of everyone's time. There comes a point when we have to stand up for the future of climbing.
  11. Depends on the how heavy the winter is. You can usually go in McKenzie pass by late June/July. Most of the West side traverse is usually snow covered with ridges bare of snow. But if you really want more snow coverage and don't mind a longer approach go in Pole Creek. The trailhead is clear of snow before McKenzie opens. Let me know if you need more info.
  12. jlag will provide the medicinal. Doesn't sound like a Deschutes Keg is needed. Let me know TG if you need supplemental kegs. We blew through the Desch and yours before people were fully sloshed last year. Timmy and I will be going head-to-head on a jack daniels shot contest. Good luck Gaper!
  13. Considering that it will all melt and you still won't be skiing until at least November why don't you take off your bra and panties and go climb something!
  14. I can be out at Smith after work(after 3pm) today, tue, wed or friday. pm me if your interested. looks like it might rain today now.
  15. Thayer Glacier in the summer? Isn't it mostly steep dangerous scree and mixed loose rock? Must of been a heavy snow year.
  16. Myself, Thrutch and the legend GaperTimmy were up there on Sat. Clouds in and out, nothing to thick though. Did one run from the top of SnowDome when the clouds kicked open. I wouldn't say it was the best run of my life, possibly the worst. Runnels, suncups and tracks. Worth the jaunt though, just fun to be up there. Thrutch was prime entertainment.
  17. Personally I don't think rock pro is needed on the pinnacle. I climbed the east side of it with boots no rope and no pro, an exposed cakewalk. The rock is actually good there and would take pro well. Make sure to get off that thing early, the pinnacle hails rock when it starts to warm up.
  18. We'll be in the lot by 8:45 and hiking up to Koala Rock or somewhere in the Marsupials depending on # of people. Green Subaru Legacy with a Burning Man sticker on the back.
  19. Good to see your still CORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I have on older OR, it's way light but minimal. It's not worth yours but what ya wanna trade?
  21. pm me if your looking for a split board partner for the triple traverse.
  22. The temps haven't been that bad, if you go in early you won't posthole. I'm assuming that your not skinning/snowshoeing due to the postholing comment. Snow is patchy until Soap Creek junction. AFter that it's a bit patchy for about 1/2 mile then all snow. If it warms up your going to be postholing on your way out. Have fun.
