    My REI wish list

You should grow a dirt lip too. Without it you will just look like a poseur.

    Drug testing

I'll let you in on my experience. It was about three days after I spent a good chunk of Saturday snowboarding/smoking weed in Whistler that I was caught in a situation where I had to take a drug test on the spot. It would have been much too embarrassing to bail out, so I pissed in the cup and hoped for the best. Nothing ever came of it. I think I passed because I don't do it very often... but I'm not sure. I drank a shitload of beer too, so maybe it washed it out of my system.

    Luke!!!

How ironic is this. Distel won a fucking ROPE. Fate is bringing you tho the dark side!
  4. It seems like the bouldering ethics should be simple. Never clean a hold after the first ascent. Holds break off well established problems all the time, though. Especially flakes. Maybe some fatty did a bouldering circuit in Leavy last weekend. One thing that kills me is when I see a climber using a wire brush on a problem that has already been established. Yes it is easier to climb it after you use the wire brush... but only because you made the hold bigger.
  5. Hey, thanks for the input everyone. I think I'll check out that clinic tonight at VW. I'll probably still see the orthopedic surgeon later this week. I'll keep you posted on what I find out. By the way the pain is on the outside of the elbow. Looking on the internet it looks like a tennis elbow injury. It happend working a boulder problem that required me to reach across and pinch something and then bring it close to my chest.
  6. I tweaked my elbow about three weeks ago in the gym and haven't climbed since or done anything that would aggravate it very much and it is still messed up. The motion that hurts the worst is holding a forty-ounce bottle of Olde English out in front of me. Pulling straight down doesn't really hurt. I'm going to see an orthopedic specialist next week, but I just wanted to know if anyone has experience with this particular type of elbow injury and knows how long it takes to recover. Is my fate to become a post-holing mountain slogger or a 5.5 choss specialist this summer? Let me know.
  7. My first gear lead ever was at Tieton on Mushmaker. My climbing partner watched me thrutch my way up about half of the climb showering beads of sweat down on him before he causually reminded me to try and jam the thing as it is perfect fist size jams. I almost pooed my pants when it widened up on top. As he followed the climb almost all of the cams I had placed had walked to the point where they had nearly fallen out of the crack. I go bouldering a lot now.
  8. It was spectacular on Saturday! The only problem... we couldn't find a legitimate place to camp. The two places we usually stay were closed for the winter. Any advice for winter camping?
  9. Yep. I realized it after I posted that I was thinking about z clipping. Getting higher up before you clip probably helps backclipping too because it is less effort to clip and you can see better what you are doing. Oh yeah, I like the longer draws because they are good to have for trad climbing and for clipping into anchors and such. If a route zig zags they are beter for rope drag too.
  10. I think a lot of the problem with back clipping in the gym is that the bolts are placed so closely together. Usually outside this is not too much of a problem, unless you are leading gear and like to sew it up. The root of the problem is that beginning gear leaders tend to place gear and clip bolts as high above their heads as possible. If you place gear and clip bolts around your chest level I bet your problem will be solved. Plus you will not waste as much energy clipping. I don't have any diagrams to show you.
  11. I was almost too ashamed to post the question. We are most likely going to camp, unless someone comes up with some sweet hotel beta... Carpooling would be cool, but I was originally planning on taking a half-day off since my borderline unemployed partner has no qualms about leaving early. I'll PM you later in the week and let you know if/when we decide to leave.
  12. I've got a pretty heavy climbing jones right now. Looking at the Smithcam I noticed that the joint is covered in snow. What are the odds next weekend is gonna be decent enough weather to get some routes in? Also, I've never stayed anywhere but the bivuac area, so what is the cheapest, shittiest hotel/motel in the vicinity? Thanks everyone.
  13. Classic!! I really do miss Minnesota from time to time.

    TRASK IS BACK

Now the rainy season reminds me of Maria The way she danced, the color of her hair Now I'm locked inside a stall in the cantina Eating the bananas and cocaine off the mirror Looking for a ticket to take me away from here Bananas and Blow, Bananas and blow Stuck in my cabana, living on bananas and blow

    kucinich

This briefly summarizes his platform. I got it in an email a while back. I really like what he stands for, but I don't think he is very electable on a national level. He reminds me of my favorite politician ever, the late Paul Wellstone. "Congressman Dennis Kucinich supports legalizing gay marriage, repealing the death penalty and the Patriot Act, withdrawing from the World Trade Organization and scrapping the North American Free Trade Agreement, implementing national ranked choice voting and publicly financed political campaigns, ending the occupation of Iraq, creating universal single-payer health care, forming a Department of Peace, cutting the Pentagon budget by 15 percent, legalizing medical marijuana and upholding legalized abortion."

    i hate

...having to deal with disgusting people in the cube farm I work in. One guy blows his nose every 20 minutes which resonates into Puget Sound and is likely in communication most whales in the pacific northwest region. He has worked here for a couple of years and has never spent an entire work week without having a cold. There is another guy that NEVER washes his hands in the bathroom. He is colorfully referred to as "Poo Fingers".

    Awww WTF

    Please... no more poo threads.
  18. Katsup counts as a veggie Isn't katsup what they used to call ketchup back in the great depression days... or what they still call it in the back woods of West Virginia?
  19. Thar She Blows!!!!
  20. Have you ever seen the climbing pr0n movie Sessions? Watch it and you will be a believer too. He is truely amazing.
  21. The fast food industry has shaped (fattened) the country into what it is today. It has, with the help of government subsidies, changed rural farming communities into poverty stricken wastelands. Meatpacking giants have created one of the most dangerous industries to work in. As a consumer use your power to reverse this trend. Avoid eating fast food at all costs. Can you tell I just read Fast Food Nation? From time to time I swing by Dick's after a night of drinking. For shame.
  22. This new product weens your pet off of their embarassing inate ass licking habit.
  23. I haven't been there, but I really like supertopos. They must have jacked up the price quite a bit recently, though.
  24. You probably caught a glimps of old man Norsky while you were out. That cat wears around the shittiest 80's style cragging spandex and is as dirty as a frenchman.
  25. This is all good in theory, but maybe you didn't have to grow up in a state that is next to them. Yeah, they supported them... but they also believed that every single year was going to be "their year" and expected that they would win the superbowl regardless of their lack of talent. Trask's article pointed out to the Green Bay fans to "get a grip, please . . . People still struggling with the loss [should] look closer at their lives to see if there are other causes for their problems." ... a point I have been struggling to get across to all Green Bay fans I have known throughout my whole life.
