The 5.10 Anasazi Velcro are back on the list - Gene has funny shaped feet!
-
BCA 240cm Probe is available again - SC Hiker decided to get the Carbon instead.
-
Thanks guys, I goofed - this is the Lodestar, not the Speedstar. I've changed the listing to be correct, and had to change my asking price as well. Sorry about that. please let me know if you're still interested.
-
Thanks for bringing that to my attention - I've added the sizes to everything I think, but everything is Size Large unless otherwise posted.
-
Jim, I've PM'ed you a response. Stuff is already starting to move. I've added photos on my website - the link is now at the top of the OP. As soon as I can figure out how to add captions there or link them here, I'll do it!
-
Rarely - is there an easy way to delete old photos (like stuff I put up for sale years ago?). Slide by slide is incredibly click intensive and slow.
-
Hmm - I just tried to upload a stack of photos, thought I had, but can't find them. Trying to figure out if/what I did wrong.

YARDSALE! I'm trying to empty out my basement in the next three weeks. Shipping not included - delivery/hand off in Seattle is possible. Photos to be posted as soon as possible. I'm having difficulty getting photos to display on this post - my old method used Picasa - so you can see everything here: LINK I'll work on adding captions too. Money talks, so the first person to say "I'll buy" get's dibs - just be aware that while you're thinking about it, someone else might be scooping you. Preferred payment method is with PayPal. Again, shipping is extra - for the larger priced items, I'm willing to deliver/hand-off in Seattle, for the lower priced items, you'll need to come to me. Shipping is USPS Priority Flat Rate when possible, USPS Priority when its not. Feel free to PM me with any additional questions. There's a lot of stuff here, and a lot of you, so please don't be annoyed if my answers are initially abrupt. SOLD TO SETHKL Dynafit ski crampons, 80mm For your skinny ski-mountaineering boards. If I could have all the cars I wanted, I'd: 1. Honda Fit for the city. 2. Diesel VW for the looooonnnngggg road trips. 3. Toyota Tacoma (or older) for the firewood mission and high-clearance 4WD road days. 4. A tricked out camper-van for car camping.
-
Yep, just like it says. I'm looking for a hand drill grip - drill bits would be nice too but certainly not required. I figured someone around here would be likely to have one sitting around that they just don't need. PM me. Thanks

Que Car BBQ +1 What about the burger joint next to the gas station in Darrington? Has anyone checked it out?

Its my understanding that the road is closed to all traffic (including foot/bike) while road construction is underway.

WD40 - and any other oil-based lube - isn't recommended. Metolius Cam Lube is repackaged White Lightning. Here's my recipe. Use WD40 to unfreeze sticky cams. Dip the cams into boiling water to clean the dirt and WD40 off. Dry the cams. Use white lightning on the action.

DrApnea, I think Leavenworth Mountain Sports is your only choice.

jcocci, most of the links on this thread are 10 years old! I promise the link I supplied does.

Himalay, you may also check with Northern Alpine Guides, LINK. The owner is an ex-pat American, they offer year-around services, and are a great source for beta.

In accidents like these, I think the negligence is equally shared. Both the climber and the belayer should confirm, verbally and visually, that both harnesses are doubled back, the climber's knot is correctly tied, the belay device is correctly threaded and the locking carabiner is locked - and on multi-pitches that the belayer is correctly tied in too. This is a simple 30-second take-off procedure that can end with "...and you're on belay." The World Wall is particular in that a 60m rope isn't always adequate, but this is a well-documented issue. Making sure that your rope is tied to something is a simple step to add for the climber and the belayer. Both in this accident are accomplished, seasoned climbers. This was simply an oversight that all of us all to often get away with in most circumstances. This time their cards came up. The takeaway, for me, is to have fun, but take this game of ghosts seriously. I'm not near so worried about dying as I am about being broken, and having my family burdened with taking care of me and my injuries because I slipped up.

You got to be - I did the TFT last year in approach shoes, and we both know I can't climb 5.9 in approach shoes. Want to grab a cup of coffee and catch up?
-
I've got an update through FB, but I won't share the names of the involved - if you know them, you know them. The climber was lowered off the end of the rope, falling 50' - 75', and suffered a fractured pelvis, fractured C2, and internal bleeding. Its going to take multiple surgeries to put him back together again, and a long rehab. Please consider using a 70m rope at World Wall, and always have the rope end tied into something - the belayer, the rope bag, or even just a stopper knot. This community has already lost enough good souls just in this year alone, and we're extremely lucky not to have added another this week to that list.
-
If you're going to climb the TFT in two nights, I really enjoyed starting from the Torment Basin approach. There are great bivy sights at the toe of the snowfield/glacier feature on the SW side, and the snowfield to the notch is a mellow 25-30 degree slope. Email me if you want more ideas!
-
I argue that Fred's wrong (wouldn't be the first time) - Pineapple Pass should be the designation of the low, wide saddle that we all know. That little notch is, well, a notch.
-
Oh no you won't! The Middle Fork road will be closed from noon on Monday till noon on Friday from 5 May till 31 October for paving, repeated in 2015 and finally ending in August 2016. google "middle fork snoqualmie river road closure" to find all the resources...

+1 for the single or double jumar with mini-traxion. Adding a backup knot ever so often isn't a big deal either.
-
Are you seriously getting worked up by a 6-year old video demonstrating an out-dated technique? And don't blame the guiding community - the American Mountain Guide Association is doing great and growing. Blame the land managers who can't come up with a simple universal requirement that guides be certified.

Closed loop or eye 2 eye for friction cord?
chris replied to tpcollins's topic in Rock Climbing Forum
TP, eye-to-eye cord isn't really common in the climbing community. There are sewn slings, I've always called them rabbit runners - but I would want that bar tacking rated the same as the rest of my slings, and I bet the link you gave isn't. I use an autobloc or a kleimheist 99% of the time, with a closed-loop cord.
