  1. and if you believe that, there's this bridge I'd like to sell you
  2. Perhaps we should just call this "Sporditional", as it falls under both categories, and doesn't really fall under either at the same time.
  3. Personally, I like Portland. Climbing was the main reason I wanted to move to the PNW, though it's not the only reason, and Portland suits my needs just fine. However, after my 8th trip to the North Cascades last summer, I was really wishing I had chosen someplace a little north of Seattle.
  4. Boney M - Brown Girl in the Ring
  5. I use wood products too, I just don't like clear cutting (which is exactly what it looks like they're doing, according to some of the pictures.)
  6. ... dropped faster than a prom dress.
  7. I was going to say: "That's what you get for clear cutting", but that works too.
  8. just post it here (upload it as an attachment on the second screen of entering a post)
  9. 1190.7! I hadn't even gotten over 850 or so before that one. edited to add attachment
  10. What's wrong with toprope bolts?
  11. ^^^ What he said
  12. http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=1753401 homestarrunner.com made NPR's Talk of the Nation!
  13. Why should he trust you on an issue that he's certainly had years of experience with? Are you the Urinal God? You only get splash back if you have poor technique, or if you stand close enough to be the damn thing! I've pissed in plenty a urinal without splash back.
  14. I've done it both ways. If I remember properly, self-arrest would certainly be interesting in some conditions, so some people prefer the security of a running belay.
  15. I learned a lot in scouts. Mainly I learned that although it says Glacier National Park, it's not below freezing during the day in the summer. But hey, I saved weight by only carrying jeans because it's going to be cold, right? Who wears shorts in the snow? (I grew up in MA, what do you expect?)
  16. We managed to turn the West Ridge into a three-day mini-epic, including an unplanned bivy at the notch. We also had no problem getting a permit for Friday and Saturday nights in late June last year.
  17. Boney M! ("Great, I'm going to die with Boney M") The song is "Brown Girl in the Ring" (although I could have sworn they were singing "brown bird in the ring" in the movie)
  18. It's a CPR discussion, as per the initial subject!
  19. <singing> There's a brown girl in the ring, tra la la la la! </singing> Has anyone else sought out that song since seeing the movie?
  20. It was nice to run into you up there too! the aforementioned pic:
  21. Yeah, I dragged those things all the way up to the Hogsback, and no, I hadn't skied tele before. (The slog up made me really wish I had skins, but I'm too cheap to buy them right now.) Hell, I haven't been on alpine skis since 2000. But damn if I didn't make it from the Hogsback to the parking lot, and the skis were on my feet the whole time. As my partner said, it was probably some of the best "survival skiing" he's ever seen. Please don't ask if I actually did any tele turns, but some of my alpine turns actually resulted in me going the opposite direction, much to my amazement. I had some spectacular face plants, the first of which is captured on digital (I'll post as soon as I get the file.) One thing is for certain, I need professional help!
  22. compared to the US behemoths, a yugo has both acceleration and quality...
