  1. Hidden Forest Cave would considered a cave as apposed to a bridge because it is longer than it is wide (at least that's the defination that I've heard.) Are they banning climbing in the cave or on the walls outside of the cave?
  2. Dwayner, this is not a bolting debate...
  3. Not sure how well this applies out here, but back in the Northeast (Albany, NY area), there are a lot of gated caves. I believe this is because they were bought by the NCC (Northeastern Cave Conservancy), and is considered private access. If you're a member of a local grotto, it's not hard to learn who you need to talk to in order to get the keys. Although for here in OR, if the gates are locked now, does that mean they won't open them up even in the off-season? (or are there even gates?)
  4. The Mazamas have a Wednesday Night Program already set up, but I think they fill up their schedule a year or two in advance. It doesn't hurt to call and ask though. You might also be able to get a special presentation there. (The clubrooms can only hold 60-80 people, so it'd be good if you were looking for a smaller venue.)
  5. Dude, the reason you were a fuckhead is because you tried to downplay a TR that obviously (and significantly) disturbed the writer, and then tried to one-up it. Asking where a crag is doesn't make you a fuckhead... I have no idea where Flagstone is either.
  6. sitting in my room at my parents house in Massachusetts when my mother came in and told me. I thought she meant small planes (Cessnas). I remember watching the first town come down on TV and thinking "I hope they're just panning up right now"
  7. It's getting closer to $150,000 or $160,000

  11. how is it you got paid do to this? what is it that you do to earn money? (I would say for a living, but it sounds like you live for climbing...)
  12. CBS, thanks for pointing out my grave error. I meant to say George H.W. Bush, as in President George Herbert Walker Bush (the elder). My bad. so now he's dead?
  13. I would have thought that bulky liners would make for a tighter fit, not more loose...

definately gonna seem weak in comparison to others, but what the hell 1) 2.5 days climbing and 1 day hiking on a 4 day spur-of-the-moment road trip to Yosemite 2) West Ridge of Forbidden 3) Timberline Trail in 14.5 hours summer's not over yet though! I still may have a trick up my sleeve!

  20. if you blended them, does that mean you have to cut up the biner and send a piece out to each person who's idea you blended?
  21. stupid law, you'd never be able to turn left at some intersections if you actually followed it!
  22. 3a. (or maybe 10) lane violators... people who change lanes without signalling, people who don't pull into the correct lane when making a turn (turning right into the left lane or left into the right lane), etc.
  23. 7. waiting at a four way stop until the approaching car comes to a complete stop. 8. pulling up to a light in such a fashion as to block the entire lane instead of staying far enough left to allow someone to squeeze through on the right and make a right on red. 9. people who make a right turn on red in front of you when you're stopped at the green because there's no room on the other side of the intersection. I don't see it often, but when I do....
  24. I was thinking it was the Inquirer, but I just wasn't sure...
