Anyone ski ferguson ridge, in the Wallowas? I went there again yesterday with friends for a day of easy tele skiing. 6" of new snow over groomed made for a great day. What caught my attention though, was the majority of skiers there were all telemark skiers, and most were really good. Unusual for a lift area. The usual number of snowboard splats were there too.

One of the main problems is that CEOs etc of large companies make disproportionatly large salaries for the work they do.

I have always used leather boots, asolo snowpines, or merrell super doubles. I bought my first plastics a couple years ago, T2s, and find that they are overkill in most situations. For bc touring, I have not used them, but I do at lift areas, or if I am just skinning up a hill for a day of turns. I should look at the T3s or 4s. However, the T2s sure have a lot of control and I have been happy with them.

This topic does not seem appropriate to cc.com. Please move it to telemarktips.com. I have basic chili bindings, cables only, on my 10th mtn, and use either T2s or merril super doubles. The system works well, is good in the cold weather. I don't alwas like cables, so I like crackeds idea about using the voiles with pins and cables though.

Good point. About all I climb any more is mountaineering routes, like on rainier etc. On these routes, glacier routes, I always use a locking biner. But it is not a good idea for rock routes, where I would tie right into my harness.

I prefer tying in with a figure 8 and backup knot, into a locking biner. However, a bowline would be a little easier to untie if it had been heavily loaded like from a fall.

Not being fortunate to live in the Big City , I am glad large mail order stores are still around. I use REI often, as they have been there for years and I can usually get most of what I need. They have a great return policy if not satisfied, and the rebate is still a nice perk. If they don't have it, I can mail order or drive to Mountain Gear in Spokane. By the way, , I have not been banned, just in Tucson for three weeks.
