Climb: Broken Top-A La Mode Date of Climb: 4/19/2006 Trip Report: Contrary to popular belief, there *are* other mountains in Oregon besides Mt. Hood. Furthermore, there are an abundance of much more enjoyable ski lines than the South side of Hoody. So, here is some stoke from other parts of the OR. I met up with THE SCHRALPER yesterday morning for a little slednektourinskiin adventure in the glorious three sisters wilderness. After weeks of storm cycles keeping conditions spicy in the central OR bc, two days of high pressure and blue skies opened the window for some spring ski love! The snow on the way into ball butte was bulletproof as the evening temps had dropped into the teens. The frozen pack made for a quick tour into the broken top crater. L to R: Pucker Up, 9 oclock, 11 oclock After getting inside the crater we decided to ski a line we call 'a la mode' which is the snowfield above the rock band lookers right in this picture. The snow on this SW aspect was very much transitional still, but had warmed up enough to make for a pleasant boot pack. I hate boot packing, but I was just so fkn stoked to be climbing with my skis on my back, under blue skies. We were treated to big views from the top of the pitch. This is a shot looking north over the east side of brokentop (mmmm tasty lines). We watched a few point release sluffs peel off while we enjoyed our Deschutes Inversion IPA (working on my sponsorship). The ski down was fairly enjoyable. Not quite orgasmic corn quite yet, but still very carvy. But hey... we we're gettin sickay in brokentop under blue skies, and that is WAY Plab. Once we got back into the crater bowl it was getting super warm so we glided back to the sleds. Slednek back to dutchman in t-shirts. A good time was had by all.

zbo- i don't know if i should acknowledge my knowledge of cletus in a public forum... cletus and i did the trip a few years back in the spring sans sled. it was a long slog for limited vert. if i were to hike in again, i'd make sure to do it for a weekend camp out to fully utuilize the terrain. there is an abundance of excellent lines back there, its just a bit deep imho. let me know when you want to go, and we can take the 2 stroke way.

Climb: Tam McArthur and Kwohl Butte-North and East Sides Date of Climb: 3/27/2006 Trip Report: Two days, two sleds, turns, too plab. Tam McArthur Rim Sunday myself, gaperbecky, and jlag headed up to 3 creeks lake snowpark to go check out the scene on Tam McArthur Rim. This was going to be gaperbecky's first day out on the sled so we figured the meadows around the lake would be prime twostrokesled fun for her. get sum becky! Instead of burning off the clouds moved in and snow began to fall as we got to the lake. So we did some slednekkin, and then skinned up the rim. There were some other skier bro's camped out up there, and they had triggered numerous surface slides on East and NorthEast facing slopes. We also heard 3 whoomps while hanging out around the lake. Thus we decided to build a booter and sess the shit out of it. Well we actually didn't do that, but it would have been way plab if we did. The turns were good, but the good times and company made the day. Monday: THE KWOHL Monday I linked up with jlag and mellag to head out to DA KWOHL. The Kwohl, for those whom aren't educated in C-O buttes is the hill lookers left(south) of Bachy. Kwohl really isn't much fun, and it takes a super long time to get out there. I took more pictures that day so you can see that the kwohl is so not tehsuck: jlag cruisin up the north side of da kwohl, bachy looks on mr n mrs lag up on the top CAW CAW, the sickbird takes flight! jlag sprays, the good spray that is,photo by mellag we really should have gone to bachy and done laps instead, LOL and a good time was had by all good times, great friends, i heart 2 stroke once again.

nope not our high marks. you think my sick 550 can do that?! on our last lap though there were 2 sledneckers charging up 'The Chief' fairly impressive. spring ski in, stay tuned.

were you in there this weekend? on our last lap up, there was a dude on snow shoes, with is dog, and his board on his pack. he had already hiked easily 8 miles to get were he was... and had a long ways to go.

Climb: Paulina-DARKSIDE Date of Climb: 3/19/2006 Trip Report: I Heart Two Stroke The two stroke engine brought much love yesterday as myself, jlagio, schralper and 3 other oregon sickburds rallied up to newberry caldera for some sledfed turns. When we arrived at the snow park around 7am, the mighty CHEIF Paulina was still socked in the morning clouds. The crew rallied up the cut bank road and we were standing on top of the 'green room' with acres of pow below us. The day was going to be good. Laps on the pitchfork, big easy, haut route, and others were schralped. 6-8"ish inches of buttery pow provided delighful fun on all lines. a good time was had by all. its good to be back.
